Administrators Gail Posted March 2, 2004 Administrators Share Posted March 2, 2004 A couple days ago, on Sunday, R and I were sitting beside the Fraser River enjoying the sunshine, chatting away. We heard a strange noise, remarkable in that we couldn't quite identify its source Suddenly, just across the river directly from us, was a myriad of emergency vehicles. We thought that a very bad vehicular accident had occurred, judging from the number of them, but when a police helicopter also came through and landed, my friend knew that something more was up Just behind an island that was situated in the middle of the river, a plane had crashed. It went down into the river, which explained why we did not hear it hit the earth The pilot died. He was Tony Onley, foremost Canadian artist who is well known for his paintings of our west coast. You can find him through Google R and I were both fans of his artwork and this is a tragic loss for us personally Tony Onley crash Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted March 2, 2004 Moderators Share Posted March 2, 2004 What a loss!! Are there any websites where we could view some of his paintings? I love the Fraser River valley. My DH and I drove from Vancouver to Banff and Lake Louise a few years ago, on the highway which follows the route of the Fraser River part of the distance. We loved the towns and the mountains. But at age 75... just about anything could have happened to him. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
