B/W Photodude
Women bishops condemn pipe organ as instrument of ‘toxic masculinity’ on International Women’s Day The liturgical conference on “Toxic Masculinity in the Song of Solomon and the Songs of the Church,” organised to celebrate International Women’s Day and the 25th Anniversary of the Ordination of Women to the Priesthood, condemned the pipe organ as “an instrument of toxic masculinity.” Jenny-Josiah Jimplecute, the Church of England’s first transgender bishop, "We need to return to Miriam’s tambourine as an instrument of feminist empowerment. Get rid of organists and fill our sanctuaries with women playing tambourines," https://www.avoiceformen.com/feminism/women-bishops-condemn-pipe-organ-as-instrument-of-toxic-masculinity-on-international-womens-day/ Methinks we have a bit of toxic femininity. JoeMo
From the article: " The large and erect pipes, often on naked display, are sexual symbols of virile manhood. Some organs are so large and have so many pedals that women feel marginalised, because it requires male testosterone to operate the instrument,” Foul said. “I accept that there are sweeter, gentler and more feminine pipes. But they are pulverised into submission by the coercive masculinity of the Gravissima (64ft), Contra Bombarde (32ft), Contra Trombone (32ft), Ophicleide (16ft) and Contra Tuba (16ft),” Foul pointed out in her power-point presentation." That is one of the most outrageous things I have ever heard.
Members rudywoofs (Pam)
I love satire. There's always a grain or more of truth in it..... phkrause 1 Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others? The general consensus is that it is satire, although not identified as such. One readers comment: reading the piece more closely a second time around i conclude that it is a satire.WELL DONE SIR!! you played us. but it also manifests Poe's Law. And that I think is the point- that feminism is so absurd as to be indistinguishable from satires upon it. Interesting is the twisting of the name Weaktree, for one of the persons in the article goes with a real person Rachel Treweek https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vn9GiHHbwnA Another person discussed in the article was Susan McClary who wrote a book on feminist music criticism. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0816641897/ I was not going to pay $16.00 to read what she had to say!
