What seems clear is that major changes are ahead for many Adventist schools and colleges. Mourns [Ricardo] Graham [President of the Pacific Union Conference], “What worries me is that appreciation for almost anything Adventist has diminished—people aren’t committed to the church in the same way that we were even 20 years ago. Thus we’re not preserving the best parts of Adventism, such as our schools.”

Sadly true, thinking about what happened to Atlantic Union College. And I fear that in giving up the best parts of Adventism, that we might be holding on to some of the worst parts. In the years leading up to 1888 the Review wanted to control Pacific Press, because they felt that the Pacific Press was too liberal and the Review wanted to control church orthodoxy. Mrs. White wrote for them to leave the Pacific Press alone. While we kept the letter of her advice, the church ended up making many of the press workers interchangeable and has weakened the spirit of her advice. We are finding the same with our ministerial training, closing some schools and ignoring graduates of others and only having a couple of our schools where a ministerial candidate and have a chance of getting a job.
