My friend Charles

I would ask that you please pray for my friend Charles. I got the news a couple of hours ago that he is to undergo surgery for colon cancer tomorrow.

Charles has been kinda like a father figure of sorts to me. I went to school with his oldest daughter. When we became Adventists, realized that this family that we had known in our community thru school activities, were Adventists!

Charles has had it hard at several intervals in his life. He has endured much between his work over the years and his family and divorced after several years of marriage. He has also survived other health issues, he survived kidney cancer! Now this.

On a more positive note, he is married to a very lovely lady named Rachael. While she is not an Adventist, she is a VERY committed christian and Charles truly adores her. She also came from a bad marriage and it has been so wonderful to see them connect.

Please pray for the surgeon (Dr. Short I've been told and he is a good surgeon) and the attending staff. Pray for his family (2 daughters, Pam and Erica and Rachael, I know of 1 stepdaughter Alice) and his brothers/sisters. And of course, for Charles. He is such a great person, I've been in tears since hearing. This has been very hard to take in, too close to the passing of my own precious father to prostate cancer not quite 10 months ago.

I know Charles is a committed Christian and that he will be one of the ones in heaven. I am torn, I will not lie. Is it awful of me to pray to have his life spared or would it be better to pray that his cancer end his life and let him rest in the peaceful sleep of our precious Jesus? I am SO thankful that I don't have to worry about such things even thro situations like this are very stressful to me at the present. I know that MY God is in control and HIS will WILL be accomplished and He WILL be given the glory!

Sorry to ramble, I'm just feeling quite raw at the moment but feel I must ask you to pray for my good friend Charles!

Thanks!

From what I've been told, the doctor's sent what they removed to be biopsyed (sp?). The doctor felt they were successful but will know more when the results are back from what they sent off.

Thanks again for your prayers for my friend Charles! I just pray that he gets good results! <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/1_prayer001.gif" alt="" />

I'm trying to keep a positive note in this post. AND I've ask the Lord to please take care of Charles cos I know I can only pray...but found out yesterday that apparently several lymph nodes were removed and biopsyed (sp?) and 1 showed up positive for cancer. Now I'm no medical person but to me I'm just thankful they ALL didn't show up positive for cancer! He is to see his family doctor either today or tomorrow and discuss his options.

Please continue to uplift Charles and his family during this time of uncertainty and vast overwhelming emotions. I'm just so thankful that Charles seems to be taking all this in stride and taking on each day as he gets to it.

Thanks so much for your prayer support!
