Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 21, 2021 Moderators Share Posted July 21, 2021 The Acts pf Paul is a Christian writing, probably dating to the 2nd century, which did not make it into the canon of Scripture. It tells the story of Thecla who by divine intervention survives death in the Arena of Antioch. The Apostle Paul then sends her to Iconium, to preach God’s message. Historians do debate certain aspects of this account. “That is not my point. I am not concerned over the alleged divine rescue from a death in the Arena. Regardless of the truth of that, this account presents a Christian society that accepted women in prominent roles of ministry and mission. It suggests to me that Thecla joins Scriptural women mentioned by Paul, such as Phoebe, and Junia, who was said by Paul to be prominent among the Apostles (Romans 16). phkrause 1 Quote Gregory
