copper thieves!

As some may know, the price of copper is up. That's why the gov't is thinking about doing away with the penny. Another result is that copper salvagers, or should I say scavengers, are breaking in to churches in the Houston area, usually inner city churches, and stealing the copper coiling to the air conditioners. There have been a rash of such break ins and vandalisms here over the past several months.

I was hoping it wouldn't happen to my church, but it did. Copper thieves broke in and vandalized our a/c system. As a result we had to worship in a hot and humid church this past sabbath, yesterday. I belong to an inner city reg. conf. sda church.

Still, the church was at least 85 to 90% full, and the spirits were high.

Is that why my ring finger is green?

According to some, when copper is worn and turns green it is supposed to be “pulling” toxins from your system. This is supposed to assist in the healing of arthritis.

Yeal, right! (:

So sorry to hear about your church. Has the insurance replaced the copper? A full church in Houston without a/c would certainly make one 'feel the warmth of brotherhood.'

We are in a boom and drilling rigs are all over my area. It is becoming quite dangerous. A good friend is Chief of Police and he and his men has been shot at, involved with rural, gravel road, high-speed chases, etc.

Locations are no longer open so you can go and watch the process, even on your own land. A friend who is Field Supt had to escort me down to watch the drilling but only on our land. Having grown up as "Oil Field Trash" (my Dad was Field Supt when I was young) this is of great interest to me. These low-life's are taking the fun out of it for everyone ... so what's new!

In Okla City they hit the city water treatment plant. Can you imagine! Office bldgs, churches, etc are also being stripped in many towns and cities.

Signs of the times ..........

I've always wondered why people feel it's easier to seal than work.

I realize that criminal activity is increasing due to the majority of the jobs paying less than one requires for basic living, but to put your present and eternal life in jeopardy by indulging in illegal acts is beyond comprehension.

It's hasn't been that long ago that we had problems with aluminum windows and other items being stole.

What next?

Even so come, Lord Jesus

I have had two projects where thieves stole copper while it was under construction. In one they stole heavy gage copper wiring. In another they cut up already installed water pipes. As a result we now have to pay security guards to watch our projects at night which drives up the cost of construction.

Now I have an old air conditioning unit that I would gladdly give away to a copper theif. Maybe I should set it out on the curb and put a "for sale" sign on it. That normally assures it being stolen rather quickly.

Sabbath before last the a/c at church was inoperable because of thievery and vandalism. We didn't attend church this past sabbath, but we did attend today, and the a/c was working fine.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and concern.
