Amelia
That is shattering. I'll pray for Kev and his friend. Too young to pass. Administrators Gail Posted October 3, 2006 Author Administrators Share Posted October 3, 2006 Kevin posted this and sent it to several people who have been following this story: (As a mother it is heartbreaking to know that my chickie is dealing with such a heavy- ) Quote: Hey guys, Ok, I’m still not sure what sort of tone this email should have because it is both sad and yet unbelievable at the same time. As you all know, my friend Alexei was battling leukemia that spread to her lungs about a week or so ago. After saying goodbye to her friends and family in Canada she flew to Greece to spend her remaining days in a country she came to love. Regretfully, yet expectedly, she died yesterday at her home in Greece at the young age of 23. Ok, that is the sad part of the email. Now check this out…. I was talking to her best friend MJ who is in Greece with Alex’s family and friends and I asked her if she knew how she died. I asked her if she died in her sleep or if she suffered etc. She told me that she died on her couch while writing a letter…and MJ didn’t stop at that. She said, “Guess what? That letter was for you!” I’m very curious to see what the last thought was in her mind before she died. I guess I’ll find out when I actually read the letter. MJ is going to mail it to me when she gets back to Canada. Not knowing what to think or say or who to talk to I then phoned my girlfriend Seren. I started breaking down telling her about Alex dying as she wrote this letter. Seren calmly let me say what I had to say and then said to me, “I knew she was writing that letter.” Thinking Seren was some sort of prophet or something I replied, “What do you mean?” A day before Alex headed off to Greece, Seren emailed her and asked her if she could write me a letter and mail it to her so she could give it to me on my birthday as a special birthday present. This was the letter! What a present! Its cool to know that I was the last person she was thinking of before she died. Unbelievable. Thanks for all your prayers. She appreciated every single person praying for her. I don’t really know what else to say right now. What an amazing story. Administrators Gail Posted October 3, 2006 Author Administrators Share Posted October 3, 2006 So poignant- when one is dying, everything counts, doesn't it? Clio
Everything is important when one is dying, but how much more important when one lives. I hope the letter Kev receives will be full of words of life, hope and blessings. Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
Administrators Naomi Posted October 4, 2006 Administrators Share Posted October 4, 2006 Gail, That answered my question to you a cay or two ago. It is so sad and yet, so very beauiful. Yes, everyhing does count when one is bying. And, we never know when our last day will come so I suppose that is why we are told to live each minute or every hour as though it is our last.
