Administrators Naomi Posted September 27, 2006 Administrators Share Posted September 27, 2006 As many of you know, my mother is 94 and recovering nicely from her second hip replacement in 12 months. Yesterday, without thinking, she bent over to pick up something and hurt her back. I took her in for an MRI and they discovered that her 7 vertebrae (sp?) has a compressed fracdture. At her age there is nothing they can do for her except to try and ease her pain. Thank you for your prayers. I am praying for a miracle from God to fix your Mom's back. He is able! Many times God has had to help me tolerate pain. He still has to because the doctors have given up. I will pray for your dear Mother. Pockey Posted September 28, 2006 Share Posted September 28, 2006 Compression fractures are pretty common at this age group. The treatment is pretty much pain management. Pockey Posted September 28, 2006 Share Posted September 28, 2006 Ok good. One thing to prevent the burn of the spray is to alternate nostrils. Also, the hydrocodone can cause constipation. I have threatened to have an IV put in but she knows it is only an empty threat. Prayers have taken her far in the past three years. She is feeling a little discouraged today. Constant pain has a way of doing that. Especially for a lady who has never, ever been ill. She still can't undertand what a headache must feel like! LOL My DNA must have came from someone else!
