D.C. — ⬆️ Minimum wage increase The minimum wage is now $17.50, up 50 cents. The tipped minimum wage rises from $8 to $10 per hour as a result of Initiative 82. 💲 Pay transparency No more salary surprises — businesses must disclose pay rates and salary ranges on job listings, and employers may not screen candidates on their wage history. Virginia — 🍸 Booze Cocktails to-go are permanent. 🏀 NIL deals Universities can compensate their student-athletes through name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals, and it'll be illegal for the NCAA to punish schools for it. Maryland — 🎶 Ticket sales A new anti-scalping law more tightly regulates concert and other live entertainment ticket sales from third-party platforms. Among other things, there's a ban on junk fees and "speculative tickets." ❌ Legacy admissions Following Virginia, Maryland has ended legacy admissions at universities that receive state funding.
