Bush has now reversed his decision about spying. To me its seems that alot of what Bush has done has been "wrong". (thats really a clumsy to use)

I began to ask myself the question, is there is anything that Bush has got right or done right? This is a genuine question. Let's have so positive points about Bush's achievements.

The economy!!! He inheritted a recession and that was deepened by the terrorist attacks. He has managed to maintain record low unemployment rates, hold inflation at bay amid rising energy prices, increase home ownership to record levels and the stock market is at all time highs.

The attorney general has also done a great job going after pornography and sexual preditors. The national no-call list has come into existance during this Administration (he deserved re-election just for that thatsfunny ). And the overall crime rate is at its lowest per captia since 1969.

Now he has made some big mistakes. Principly lack of border control and managing the War in Iraq.

However if we are going to be honest in our criticism and not spinmisters or idealogues, we have to give him credit where credit is due.

Hey ... The gas prices are the lowest in years. According to the Demos ... he has total control of that and manipulated the prices just before the election to help the Republicans. Yeah Right.

He reversed himself because of pressure from the Demos. It was the right thing to do in order to protect our nation but will have to go on the shelf thanks to the Demos. But don't think for one second that he changed HIS mind. He still wants to do it.

The economy???!!

Our national debt is now in the trillions, and mounting daily. It's never been that high before in the nation's history. He's spending billions a DAY on the Iraq fighting.

Just because more people are employed doesn't mean a thing. The entry level jobs are the only ones increasing. That's why we can't get anyone knowledgeable to wait on us these days when we go shopping.

I don't know the economic value of a human being's life. But we've wasted more than 3,000 of those in the Middle East.

I have to agree with that. I was stunned about how well that worked. We used to get a least 10-15 calls a day. Now we don't get any.

I'm not sure how much GWB had to do with that but I'll give him credit.

Actually the deficit has been coming down the last couple of years and the nation's deficit to GDP ratio is not at an all-time high. Not too bad for a nation at war.

The invasion of Afghanistan. As a result the people there now have more freedom than they experienced in decades. Our friends could not even call home or send money to their family before the US took out the Taliban. Their parents in Afghanistan died without family members even being able to contact them about it. Now women can go to school without fear of being tortured and shot and people are actually free to exchange ideas, watch cable TV and listen to foreign radio. Women are no longer being executed as they were under the Taliban without trial and in the middle of soccer matches.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

The economy? Yeah, man, multi-million bonuses to his CEO cronies, even though the companies they head are either just holding steady or even losing money. $39b profit for Exxon-Mobil. Job exodus to foreign countries. Over half a trillion dollars in foreign trade deficit for 2006. For the last 3 yrs, the Bush budget deficits have averaged 400 billion. The total national debt now stands at $8.6 trillion. Bush ALONE is/will be responsible for adding over 3 trillion dollars to the national debt. In 2006 the gov't paid $406 billion for interest in the national debt, the SINGLE largest expense item in the Federal budget!

Then while the clowns on capitol hill regularly give themselves raises, they reduce healthcare provider's compensation. (They did stave off the 5% reduction at the 11th hour, then wait for the docs to beg them again later this year.)

Gerry you have made some good points. I am a Bush supporter. But, I have a problem with the big profits of big business.

Also ... the average American is really getting cut. Being on Medicare and in the need of frequent therapy ... I found it severely impacting my well being when last year SEVERE cuts in Medicare Physical Therapy benefits were thrown my way. I depend upon PT to keep my mobility. So needless to say ... I am severely affected.

I would also point out that the Republicans under Bush this week were successful in blocking the Demos plan to increase the wages of those in Congress. It was a budget buster so the Republicans were able to stop any raises this year for Congress.

The Demos preach but do not practice. So ... in this situation I think that Bush and the Republicans have done what is "right".

The raises that were stopped were just cost of living increases. Congress normally gets them every year. There is a bipartisan agreement that everyone will vote for them as long as no one makes them campaign issues. Again, these are insignificant cost of living increases.

What happened is the Democrats broke the agreement last year and used these raises as a campaign issue in a few races accross the country. So in retaliation, the Republicans have now stopped the cost of living increases. That means, of course, the Democrats can't unfairly use these insignificant raises as campaign issues in the next election cycle BUT the Republicans can.
