aldona
This story was in yesterday's newspaper. Caulfield is a suburb of Melbourne that has a very large Jewish community. Most football in Melbourne takes place on Saturdays, but there is a group of (mostly Jewish) youth who don't participate in the regular scheduled games because of their religion, and meet on Sundays to have their own unofficial games at a public sports ground in Caulfield. They have just been fined by the local authorities for playing their games without a proper permit. Read the story here What do you think? Should an informal group of friends have to have a permit to play football on a public oval? When they described the group as "predominantly Jewish", I wondered whether there were any Adventist youth among them. There are a few well-established SDA churches within a few miles of Caulfield (Oakleigh, Hughesdale and Glenhuntly are just a few that come to mind). I wonder if I should write a letter to the editor of the paper in support of our fellow Sabbath-keepers. aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? bevin
The council did not fine them for their choice of day, the fine was for not having a permit. They should apply for a permit. /Bevin
Members phkrause
If it is a public area, which it seems it is, they or anybody should not have to have a permit. Now if the others that do get together on the sabbath have a permit than I beieve that is best that they do apply for a permit. pkrause Quote phkrause By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}
