Guest charis
I don't do amalgamations. But if that is what you like ... to each his own. And I always provide cites of where the quote is located. In your case ... a compiled conglomeration or amalgamation of quotes. **steps carefully out of thread**
carolaa
oh...I get it now. We can do the same with the Bible! *and Judas went and hanged himself* *Go thou and do likewise*? I don't know if you are being serious or not, but personally, I don't have a problem with the example you cited with the Bible snippets. I mean, no one is going to take such a thing seriously; it's obviously intended to be humorous. And I honestly think EW herself would have gotten a good chuckle out of the snippets of hers. On the other hand, I think she would be appalled at some of the compilations of her writings that have come out since her death. Now THOSE are snippets! They have been used to mislead others. And THAT ought to be considered disrespectful! (imho)
Moderators LynnDel Posted January 27, 2008 Moderators Share Posted January 27, 2008 Overused, yes. Used out of context in a huge number of cases, yes. But - a voice used of God, yes. Used appropriately, too often no. Too often SDAs lay an EGW quote on the table as the final word instead of using the Bible as their foundation. Shall I pull the "lesser light" quote out of my holster? Quote LD
Woody
Quote: Shall I pull the "lesser light" quote out of my holster? When that is done ... the responsible response should be ... show me in the Bible. That would have been Ellen White's response. She wrote to "point" to the Bible.
