Regardless if McCain's use of the word is proper, Obama understands what McCain is trying to say and is trying to distort it. And not just once. He repeats his distortion over and over again.

That's just it...His [McCAin]use of the word is NOT proper. And HE is distorting the word, and weaseling out of he said....Obama is not falling for that republican trick...

Except that McCain only came out with that special definition of 'fundamentals' *after* he was called on his foolish statement. It's pretty easy to step away from the foolish words we say if we're allowed to redefine them in ways no-one else uses them.

From Alice in Wonderland:

Humpty Dumpty: When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less.

Alice: The question is, whether you can make words mean so many different things.

Humpty Dumpty: The question is: which is to be master - that's all.

Not true. Here is the clip.

"The fundamentals of our economy are strong, but these are very, very difficult times. And I promise you we will never put America in this position again. We will clean up Wall Street."

He was clearly recognizing the economy was in trouble and was tying it to Wall Street. Later on that same morning he said the economy was in crisis.

Pay close attention to what is said and not said.

He said, "The fundamentals of our economy are strong..."

He did not say, "Our economy is fundamentally strong..."

There is a big difference between those two statements. Obama knows what McCain was trying to say. McCain has explained it. Obama is playing a childish "gocha" game by distorting what he knows McCain said.

'Fundamentals' has a very specific meaning in economics, that is very well known. At the very least McCain misspoke, and that's the most charitable possible interpretation.

Then he is saying nothing....because the 'fundementals" as you call it are-

the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services and with the theory and management of economies or economic systems.

In other words "the production and distribution oand consuptions of good/services are fundamentally strong."

If he is refering to workers, he's saying that the workers are mules and that managment needs to use them....If he is refering to the definition, he's saying nothing...he's speaking political speak,..which is he said a whole lot of nothing...

Obama at least uses the same dictionary and the same meaning as the rest of Americans and actually has a plan for the ecomony.... McCain has said nothing....at the very least....or that Americans are not being used as mules...
