What if?

What if when Jesus said in Matthew 5:48 [to be perfect like the Father in heaven], it was the same as when God said, "Let there be light."

When God said let there be light there was light, apply the same concept to when Jesus said [to be perfect]....

By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}

But the reality is we always choose against the law of God. We always sin after knowing the truth.

When Jesus said, "Lazarus come forth," Lazarus came forth. When Jesus said, "be ye therefore perfect...", we were circumcised immediately upon hearing those impossible words.

See:

John 6:63 and John 15:3

Also see Matthew 8:5-13

No I'm pretty sure Paul was saying, "I die daily," meaning he is killed by the law daily.

No one can survive these two verses - 1st John 3:8,9

Who was Jesus talking to when he said to Peter, "get thee behind me Satan?" There is absolutely no righteousness found whatsoever in your flesh.

1 Corinthians 15:50 [says] that flesh and blood [doesn't] inherit the kingdom of God...

Hence the circumcision(baptism)

Two in the field is you.

Without a big swag of quoted texts, Michael, are you able to lay out clearly and simply what you mean in your opening post.

When God said 'let there be light', the universe had no choice in the matter. Are you saying that when Jesus says 'be ye perfect', we have no choice in the matter? Because that's certainly not what I see around (and within) me.

Truth is important

You [dgrimm60] didn't read what I said. I said the law kills our flesh. It kills us. It's the great equalizer.

What do you think the baptism symbolizes. The water is symbolic for the Word of God which kills our flesh. At the same time the inward man is born.

Nothing we do contributes to our salvation.

When the multitude heard and you read the words, "be ye therefore perfect even as my Father in heaven is perfect," You were immediately circumcised.

Read John 15:3 and try to explain it to me in "context"

Hey michael144, are you saying that your Bible reads: "be ye therefore perfect even as my Father in heaven is perfect," in John 15:3? Because my Bible doesn't. Just curious! Or are just referring to a different verse for some comments?
