bonnie
I'm thinking his plan was to personally talk to all the bonus recipients and ask them nicely to give the bonuses back. Why not step in before the bonuses were paid? Why act surprised and appalled? The most powerful man in the country goes mute when Barney Frank and Chris Dodd put on their show. Nary a word when Barney Frank made it known on national television no move would be made to keep the names confidential. If I remember right the honorable and ethical man Barney Frank wanted the names of their children as a little more intimidation. Didn't hear Obama disagree with any of it,in fact would look for any way he could to see to it bonuses were given back. The protesters ourside the homes of AIG employees was a nice little touch and appears it is what helped fuel misdirected anger. Union thugs and Acorn appear to have hired the protesters and provided the buses. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Moderators Gerr Posted March 27, 2009 Moderators Share Posted March 27, 2009 Quote: the last great stronghold of communism/socialism China's economic resurgence has taken place because they adopted some market-oriented policies. IOW, to the degree they abandoned socialism, they prospered. Thanks for the reminder.

One thing I like Obama for is that he doesn't get all reactive. He stays calm. He is judicious about when to stick his nose into things. Judicious is not knowing, approving and then reacting with outrage,I believe he even said he choked up with anger over the bonuses. Perhaps he should have choked with anger before deed was done Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. bonnie
* http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20090316/pl_politico/20054 Quote: Mike Allen, Eamon Javers Mike Allen, Eamon Javers – Mon Mar 16, 1:23 pm ET Harnessing public outrage over lavish bonuses for bailed-out executives at insurance giant AIG, President Obama said Monday that he will “pursue every single legal avenue to block these bonuses and make the American taxpayers whole.” Obama made his forceful remarks at a small-business event at the White House, following a weekend of heavy news coverage of the payments that fueled the populist backlash already building against bailouts for the wealthy. “This isn’t just a matter of dollars and cents. It’s about our fundamental values,” Obama said. “All across the country, there are people who work hard and meet their responsibilities every single day, without the benefit of government bailouts or multi-million dollar bonuses,” Obama said. “And all they ask is that everyone, from Main Street to Wall Street to Washington, play by the same rules.” At one point, he ad-libbed after a cough, “Excuse me, I’m choked up with anger here.” How can anyone believe this to be a honest reaction? Was he angry when he first became aware?? That would not have produced the backlash. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make.
