That seems to translate as: Ellen White was a prophet and had the truth. But now "we" have more truth and light than her. Some of her truth was in fact darkness, but "we" have the light. I answer that He has light that is new to us, and yet it is precious old light that is to shine forth from the Word of truth [the Bible]. Those who think that they will never have to give up a cherished view, never have occasion to change an opinion, will be disappointed. Jesus is specifically speaking of unity, i.e., he who hates his brother doesn't know Christ. Not only this, but you must retain the prior context to be fair to your quote. Remember 1 John 1:8?
