Patrick Swayze, the hunky actor who danced his way into viewers’ hearts with “Dirty Dancing” and then broke them with “Ghost,” died Monday after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 57.

“Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,” said a statement released Monday evening by his publicist, Annett Wolf. No other details were given.

He had struggled with alcoholism for much of his life although that is not directly connected to his cancer. I saw one of his last interviews given and he clearly stated that he did not know what awaited him on the other side. He made no mention of God. He was apparently raised Catholic. Many people are like a boat in a storm at sea, tossed about without direction. Millions die each year, not knowing what awaits them. It should really be a call to action by the church. Each of us should ask ourselves what we are doing to reach those that don't know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

I second that Shane and Richard. I've seen a number of his movies, and have admired how he handled himself during this past year or so.

By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}

God already knows as to who is going to make it or who doesn't. The fact that no Adventist evangelized to him makes no difference. Each person that dies already has had a chance to make a choice one way or the other - that is the nature of this life called probation - not to be confused with the Sanctuary Doctrine. Each and every person is responsible for asking for their own salvation.

Swayze was a spiritual person but he didn't know Christ. He was torn between various religions. Much like the description of one that is blown about by every wave of doctrine. That is not to say he won't be in the kingdom. He maybe. Only God knows that. However it does highlight the urgency Adventists should have. This poor guy died with no assurance of where he was going. That is indeed truly sad.

Swayze grew up in the Oak Forest area, which is not far from me, maybe 4 or 5 miles or so. That is definitely not an area that produces dancers that become movie stars. Not often, anyway. the only movie he starred in that I've paid any attention to was 'ghost'. May he rip.

I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.
