Administrators Gail Posted September 17, 2009 Administrators Share Posted September 17, 2009 While it's Ramadan in some parts of the world (that is, if it's still on) it might be fun to talk about fasting. Do you fast for health, faith or fun? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. Members phkrause
Isn't ramadan in October? John McGhee who is my wife's cousin's husband used to fast every year in october, he said that's when muslims did there fasting, so since he was born in Pakistan, he thought he would fast with them. pk Quote phkrause By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}
Administrators Gail Posted September 17, 2009 Author Administrators Share Posted September 17, 2009 Someone told me that it changes every year. Anyway, I know it is/was because my Muslim friend was fasting. He was telling me how he survives. His mother prepares special food (cause they eat after sundown) just for the season. pk, I think I've heard of this man... Was he on the Steve Wohlberg series, Islam Revisited? Amelia
Yes it is still Ramadan for another 2-3 days. It begins with the new moon and ends with the full moon. All able bodied muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. There are acccomidations made for pregnant women, children and those with medical conditions. At the end of Ramadan there is a big party with LOTS of food. I have never fasted for religious reasons but I have for medical reasons and every now and then for health reasons. Moderators Gerr Posted September 18, 2009 Moderators Share Posted September 18, 2009 What do you mean by 'fast'? Skipping one meal? A day? A week? From what I've read about those Ramadan fast, there's no food during the day, but when the sun goes down, eat to your heart's content. For months now, my wife and I have been eating only two meals a day. No lunch. And my belt shrunk 1 1/2 notches.
Members phkrause
Yeah dgrimm and Gerry this true, I read an article awhile back that mentioned that lots of muslims where getting overweight because of this. pk Quote phkrause By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. Members phkrause
I also read, dgrimm, somewhere in the Bible that God doesn't want us to fast! pk Quote phkrause By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. Tallmark
I do a liver cleanse in the early spring and a kidney/bladder cleanse in the late fall. Each one requires 3 days of fasting. You have so many liquids and teas coming in that it's impossible to be hungry. Yes, I do it for health. https://web0.herbdoc.com/index.php?&c=
