Exactly 165 years Ago, Christ Entered the Most Holy Place

Here is how the NIV helps to destroy the sanctuary doctrine.

Hebrews 9:12 (New International Version) 12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.

Desmond Ford used this to help destroy the investigative judgment. Notice: "Most Holy Place once and for all."

Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. (KJV) Notice "once in the holy place" which is the correct translation.

Daniel 8:14 (New International Version)

14 He said to me, "It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated."

Reconsecrated has a different meaning than the KJV "cleansed" Do we (Jesus) begin to cleanse the heavenly sanctuary of sin in 1844 or do we "reconsecrate" it to what? This word is close, but not close enough, it's obviously a trick of the enemy.

Dan 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

tsâdaq (cleansed)

A primitive root; to be (causatively make) right (in a moral or forensic sense): - cleanse, clear self, (be, do) just (-ice, -ify, -ify self), (be, turn to) righteous (-ness).

Anything other than "cleansed" would be incorrect and attacks our pillars of faith, just like Hebrews 9:12 does.

Daniel 3:25 (New International Version)

25 He said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods."

Really? What son of what gods? Is Jesus the Son of God, or of gods having a pagan intention?

Dan 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

Obviously the correct translation.

Pro 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Pro 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Continued...part 3 of 3.

She continues...“As they drew near to the city of God, the challenge is given by the escorting angels,-- "Lift up your heads, O ye gates; And be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; And the King of glory shall come in." {DA 833.3}

Joyfully the waiting sentinels respond,-- "Who is this King of glory?" {DA 833.4}

This they say, not because they know not who He is, but because they would hear the answer of exalted praise,-- "The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O ye gates; Even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; And the King of glory shall come in." {DA 833.5}

Again is heard the challenge, "Who is this King of glory?" for the angels never weary of hearing His name exalted. The escorting angels make reply,-- "The Lord of hosts; He is the King of glory." Ps. 24:7-10. {DA 833.6}

“ Then the portals of the city of God are opened wide, and the angelic throng sweep through the gates amid a burst of rapturous music. {DA 833.7}

“There is the throne, and around it the rainbow of promise. There are cherubim and seraphim. The commanders of the angel hosts, the sons of God, the representatives of the unfallen worlds, are assembled. The heavenly council before which Lucifer had accused God and His Son, the representatives of those sinless realms over which Satan had thought to establish his dominion,--all are there to welcome the Redeemer. They are eager to celebrate His triumph and to glorify their King.” {DA 834.1}

“But He waves them back. Not yet; He cannot now receive the coronet of glory and the royal robe. He enters into the presence of His Father. He points to His wounded head, the pierced side, the marred feet; He lifts His hands, bearing the print of nails. He points to the tokens of His triumph; He presents to God the wave sheaf, those raised with Him as representatives of that great multitude who shall come forth from the grave at His second coming. He approaches the Father, with whom there is joy over one sinner that repents; who rejoices over one with singing. Before the foundations of the earth were laid, the Father and the Son had united in a covenant to redeem man if he should be overcome by Satan. They had clasped Their hands in a solemn pledge that Christ should become the surety for the human race. This pledge Christ has fulfilled. When upon the cross He cried out, "It is finished," He addressed the Father. The compact had been fully carried out. Now He declares: Father, it is finished. I have done Thy will, O My God. I have completed the work of redemption. If Thy justice is satisfied, "I will that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am." John 19:30; 17:24. {DA 834.2}

“The voice of God is heard proclaiming that justice is satisfied. Satan is vanquished. Christ's toiling, struggling ones on earth are "accepted in the Beloved." Eph. 1:6. Before the heavenly angels and the representatives of unfallen worlds, they are declared justified. Where He is, there His church shall be. "Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other." Ps. 85:10. The Father's arms encircle His Son, and the word is given, "Let all the angels of God worship Him." Heb. 1:6. {DA 834.3}

“With joy unutterable, rulers and principalities and powers acknowledge the supremacy of the Prince of life. The angel host prostrate themselves before Him, while the glad shout fills all the courts of heaven, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing." Rev. 5:12. {DA 834.4}

Songs of triumph mingle with the music from angel harps, till heaven seems to overflow with joy and praise. Love has conquered. The lost is found. Heaven rings with voices in lofty strains proclaiming, "Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever." Rev. 5:13. {DA 835.1} These things all took place upon the ascension of the Lord Jesus to heaven and then afterward He began His work in the Holy Place as our High Priest where he sat on the right hand of the Father on the throne interceding as a Priest and Mediator for sinners on the throne of grace.

Christ goes into the Most Holy Place in 1844

Ellen White says these very interesting statements. Which took place in 1844 after Christ completed His work in the Holy Place. After the 2300 years of Daniel 8:14. She says: "I saw the Father rise from the throne, and in a flaming chariot go into the holy of holies within the veil, and sit down. Then Jesus rose up from the throne, and the most of those who were bowed down arose with Him. I did not see one ray of light pass from Jesus to the careless multitude after He arose, and they were left in perfect darkness. Those who arose when Jesus did, kept their eyes fixed on Him as He left the throne and led them out a little way. Then He raised His right arm, and we heard His lovely voice saying, 'Wait here; I am going to My Father to receive the kingdom; keep your garments spotless, and in a little while I will return from the wedding and receive you to Myself.' Then a cloudy chariot, with wheels like flaming fire, surrounded by angels, came to where Jesus was. He stepped into the chariot and was borne to the holiest, where the Father sat. There I beheld Jesus, a great High Priest, stand ing before the Father. On the hem of His garment was a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate. Those who rose up with Jesus would send up their faith to Him in the holiest, and pray, 'My Father, give us Thy Spirit.' Then Jesus would breathe upon them the Holy Ghost. In that breath was light, power, and much love, joy, and peace." Early Writings, p. 55; cf. p. 251; Spiritual Gifts, vol. l.pp. 158, 159.

" And, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. And there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away. Daniel 7:13, 14. The coming of Christ here described is not His second coming to the earth. He comes to the Ancient of Days in heaven to receive dominion and glory and a kingdom, which will be given Him at the close of His work as a mediator." Great Controversy, 479-480.

...“In the parable, when the bridegroom came, "they that were ready went in with him to the marriage." The coming of the bridegroom, here brought to view, takes place before the marriage. The marriage represents the reception by Christ of his kingdom. The holy city, the New Jerusalem, which is the capital and representative of the kingdom, is called "the bride, the Lamb's wife." Said the angel to John, "Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife." "He carried me away in the spirit," says the prophet, "and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of Heaven from God." [REV. 21:9, 10.] Clearly, then, the bride represents the holy city, and the virgins that go out to meet the bridegroom are a symbol of the church. In the Revelation the people of God are said to be the guests at the marriage supper. [REV. 19:9.] If guests, they cannot be represented also as the bride. Christ, as stated by the prophet Daniel, will receive from the Ancient of days in Heaven, "dominion, and glory, and a kingdom," he will receive the New Jerusalem, the capital of his kingdom, "prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." [DAN. 7:14; REV. 21:2.] Having received the kingdom, he will come in his glory, as King of kings, and Lord of lords, for the redemption of his people, who are to "sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob," at his table in his kingdom, [MATT. 8:11; LUKE 22:30.] to partake of the marriage supper of the Lamb. {GC88 426.2}

“The proclamation, "Behold, the Bridegroom cometh," in the summer of 1844, led thousands to expect the immediate advent of the Lord. At the appointed time the Bridegroom came, not to the earth, as the people expected, but to the Ancient of Days in heaven, to the marriage, the reception of His kingdom. "They that were ready went in with Him to the marriage: and the door was shut." They were not to be present in person at the marriage; for it takes place in heaven, while they are upon the earth. The followers of Christ are to "wait for their Lord, when He will return from the wedding." Luke 12:36. But they are to understand His work, and to follow Him by faith as He goes in before God. It is in this sense that they are said to go in to the marriage. {GC 427.1}

“In the parable it was those that had oil in their vessels with their lamps that went in to the marriage. Those who, with a knowledge of the truth from the Scriptures, had also the Spirit and grace of God, and who, in the night of their bitter trial, had patiently waited, searching the Bible for clearer light--these saw the truth concerning the sanctuary in heaven and the Saviour's change in ministration, and by faith they followed Him in His work in the sanctuary above. And all who through the testimony of the Scriptures accept the same truths, following Christ by faith as He enters in before God to perform the last work of mediation, and at its close to receive His kingdom--all these are represented as going in to the marriage. {GC 427.2}

In the parable of Matthew 22 the same figure of the marriage is introduced, and the investigative judgment is clearly represented as taking place before the marriage. Previous to the wedding the king comes in to see the guests, to see if all are attired in the wedding garment, the spotless robe of character washed and made white in the blood of the Lamb. Matthew 22:11; Revelation 7:14. He who is found wanting is cast out, but all who upon examination are seen to have the wedding garment on are accepted of God and accounted worthy of a share in His kingdom and a seat upon His throne. This work of examination of character, of determining who are prepared for the kingdom of God, is that of the investigative judgment, the closing of work in the sanctuary above. {GC 428.1}

When the work of investigation shall be ended, when the cases of those who in all ages have professed to be followers of Christ have been examined and decided, then, and not till then, probation will close, and the door of mercy will be shut. Thus in the one short sentence, "They that were ready went in with Him to the marriage: and the door was shut," we are carried down through the Saviour's final ministration, to the time when the great work for man's salvation shall be completed. {GC 428.2}

I agree that NIV is a very problematic translation -- NASB and KJV/NKJV are much better in that regard.

Though surprisingly - in just a few places - NIV actually wins out over NASB and KJV.

Bob, the NKJV is the same as the NIV on Heb. 9:12:

Hebrews 9:12 (New King James Version)

12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

Bob, Most all modern versions except the AKJV come from the Minority texts.One was found in a trash can in a Catholic Monastery, the other in the Vatican library, both riddled with errors and changes. The NASB is as error riddled as the NIV.

Daniel 8:14 (New American Standard Bible)

14He said to me, "For (A)2,300 evenings and mornings; then the holy place will be properly restored."

Restored is not exactly cleansed is it? This attacks our sanctuary doctrine, it is important we understand the heavenly sanctuary is cleansed from sin. Restoration does not properly convey the meaning of being cleansed from sin. I believe the Hebrew agrees. The KJV and AKJV renders this “cleansed.”

Ellen White agrees, I see nowhere that she uses any other word than “cleansed.”

“Arguments drawn from the Old Testament types also pointed to the autumn as the time when the event represented by the "cleansing of the sanctuary" must take place. This was made very clear as attention was given to the manner in which the types relating to the first

Clearly the Holiest compartment is where the high priest went in once a year to atone for the sins of the people.

Heb 9:7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:

The Greek says:

H6663 tsâdaq (don’t ask me to pronounce this!)

A primitive root; to be (causatively make) right (in a moral or forensic sense): - cleanse, clear self, (be, do) just (-ice, -ify, -ify self), (be, turn to) righteous (-ness).

I know that tsâdaq is used elsewhere to convey the meaning of justification and righteousness but in this case, cleansed appears correct.

Daniel 3:25 (New American Standard Bible)

25He said, "Look! I see four men loosed and (A)walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the (B)gods!"

What son of what gods?

Dan 3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. (KJV) The AKJV is the same as the KJV.

Nebuchadnezzar saw Christ in the flames, Ellen White agrees; it wasn’t just any pagan false god, I want my Bible version to say that.

“ But the Lord did not forget His own. As His witnesses were cast into the furnace, the Saviour revealed Himself to them in person, and together they walked in the midst of the fire. In the presence of the Lord of heat and cold, the flames lost their power to consume.” {PK 508.3}

Revelation 13:10 (NASV) If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed Here is the perseverance and the faith of the saints.

Rev 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. (KJV)

The Greek agrees with “lead into” and the KJV; “destined” is incorrect in my view.

Luke 4:8 (NASV) Jesus answered him, "It is written, you shall worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'"

Luk 4:8 And Jesus answered and said to him, Get you behind me, Satan: for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve. (AKJV)

Luk 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. (KJV)

Get thee behind me, Satan is omitted in the NASV

Matthew 25:13 (New American Standard Bible)

“ Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.”

Mat 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. (KJV)

Mat 25:13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes. (AKJV)

wherein the Son of man comes. Is omitted from the NASV

Matthew 27:35 (New American Standard Bible)

And when they had crucified Him, they divided up His garments among themselves by casting lots.

Mat 27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.(KJV)

All of the underlined has been omitted from the NASV. Which shows the fulfillment of the below prophecy:

Psa 22:18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

Mark 6:11 (New American Standard Bible)

“Any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, shake the dust off the soles of your feet for a testimony against them."

Mar 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. (KJV)

The underlined has been omitted from the NASV.

Mark 13:14 (New American Standard Bible)

But then you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION standing where it should not be (let the reader understand), then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.

Mar 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: (KJV)

The underlined has been omitted from the NASV. This destroys Jesus’ reference to a prophecy of Daniel.

John 7:8 (New American Standard Bible)

Go up to the feast yourselves; I do not go up to this feast because (A)My time has not yet fully come."

John 7:8 Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come

.

Yet has been omitted from the NASV, it tries to make the Savior a liar. It says He goes not at all, when He did go later, It also makes the Bible look like it contradicts itself.

John 7:10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. (KJV)

John 3:15 (New American Standard Bible)

“so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.”

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

should not perish is omitted.

Romans 14:10 (New American Standard Bible)

10But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

Rom 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. (KJV)

The NASV changes Christ to God. The Greek says Messiah.

John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: (KJV)

1 Timothy 3:16 (New American Standard Bible)

By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.

1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. (KJV)

God has been changed to “he” in the NASV. Taking away from the fact that in Christ, God is manifested in the flesh.

Justified has also been changed to vindicated

1 John 4:3 (New American Standard Bible)

and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof you have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (KJV)

Christ is come in the flesh is omitted in the NASV, this is not good. It wipes out some of the identifying marks of the anti-Christ. Does this mean the NASV is part of the anti-Christ? Could be. It also takes away the status of Jesus as the messiah when Christ is omitted.

1 Corinthians 5:7 (New American Standard Bible)

Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.

1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: (KJV)

for us: has been omitted from the NASV. Are we eligible for salvation?

Interesting.

NASB "not through the blood of goats and calves but through His own blood He entered the Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption"

That is why I went from KJV to NASB back in the day that I switched out of the KJV. However I have to admit I am finding some places where the KJV beast the NASB (like Rev 13:17) -- so I have to keep those two handy.

But there is ONE redeeming feature for all of the NIV blunders - and that is 1John 2:2 and Romans 3:25. Both the KJV and NASB get that one wrong.

The NIV study Bible also has a nice chart showing the mapping of Daniel 2 and 7 and 8 all overlaid (almost identical to the SDA Daniel seminars.) Handy thing to reference when you want to show a non-SDA source getting "the basics" right.

NASB has "restored" in the text and "properly vindicated" in the margin.

The word in Daniel 8:14 is "nisdaq" or "NITSDAQ" depending on who you ask to transliterate the letters - (that occurs in the OT -- only in Dan 8:14.. not in Lev 16) which the KJV renders "shall be cleansed". (see The Sanctuary and the Atonement p 205-206 by the GC Biblical Research Committee).

Our own scholarship concludes that "the ideas of cleansing, justifying, setting right and vindicating are part and parcel of the term NISDAQ... all in all, this means that the cleansing of the sanctuary is to be seen in a broader scope, INCLUSIVE of ideas of restoration to a rightful state -- cleansing, justification and vindication". (ibid 204)

This means that the term is much bigger than "cleansed" and this is clear since in Lev 16 where we see the sanctuary cleansed - NISDAQ is not used.

They get this broader meaning by looking at the use of TSADAQ ( related word but not NITSDAQ) which is used 250 times in the Bible

Dear Gentlemen and Ladies,

The word is the niphal form of the base Hebrew word, tsadaq. The root word means to be cleansed from sin and guilt in the forensic sense. In the niphal form, it is a legal term which means to be declared innocent of all charges and to be restored to all former privileges and rights. It is a declaration of innocence and restoration.

What is important for understanding is what is being restored to its prior innocent status, and the Hebrew declares a holy thing is to be declared tsadaq. A precursory look would suggest the sanctuary, but if one studies the text correctly, it is apparent that which is declared innocent is the people of God. Why? Because they have appealed to the great judge of the universe to vindicate them against their enemies. The judgment is the lawsuit brought by the people of God against their enemies. The enemies of God have tried and persecuted His people in the earthly tribunals. They have been made the criminals and the miscreants of the earth worthy to be stamped out, and they cry out, "How long before you avenge us?" They are appealing their case before the only true and righteous judge. 22 October 1844 was the beginning of that trial. The plaintiff is the people of God, the accused are the enemies of God. And Christ is the judge and arbiter. This judgment occurs in three phases: In progress before the angels, during the thousand years by the saints, and finally at the final judgment when all will be revealed and all must face the acts of their persecution and war against God's people. When the final verdict is in, all bow and indicate God, alone, is worthy to rule. And those who are the accused will receive their final reward in the hell fires which destroy the heavens and the earth. And those who are God's people will be restored to the earth made new. They will receive vindication and will be restored to the privileges and offices taken from them by the followers of Satan.

It is not a cleansing of a heavenly sanctuary; it is the restoration of God's people to innocence and restoration of their earthly home and a restoration of their rule over the earth. They are restored to be Sons of God and will once more take their place among the inhabitants of the universe.

Sincerely,

The Searcher
