Has anyone gotten the NKJV Remnant Study Bible with the EGW comments interspersed in with the text? I got a brochure on the Bible and it looks like something that I could really use for studying since I don't have many EGW books. But they're very expensive...$80.00 right now. My mom said she might be able to get me one as an early birthday present. But I'd like to know if any of you have it yet, and what your opinion of it is.. It sounds interesting rudywoofs, maybe you could go in to the ABC and have a look if they allow this. But maybe your ABC is a really far drive? I've had the Revelation Seminar Bibles. NKJV I think, that were excellent.However, in the last year I've moved a bit away from the NKJV because of problem translations, and use the AKJV, and KJV, with occasional use of the RV. the NKJV is copyrighted by Thomas Nelson, and you can bet they have made a ton of money on it. The AKJV, and the KJV2000 are not copyrighted and the authors only had the goal of giving the KJV to the world sans the thees and thous. Pam, the 2008 EGW Comprensive Research Edition software is only 19.99 at the abc. The other one without the extras is 14.99.All the published is included. I'm told the White Estate is also working on some unpublished. I have the first one and it has a Scripture reference for every text in the Bible that Ellen White even came withing the ball park of speaking to. Since the Bible is a golden chain of truth and EGW is in perfect harmony, even the references that seem more generalized will never lead on down the wrong path, like other Commentaries might. The mighty Angel who instructed John was no less a personage than Jesus Christ. Setting His right foot on the sea, and His left upon the dry land, shows the part which He is acting in the closing scenes of the great controversy with Satan. This position denotes His supreme power and authority over the whole earth. The controversy has waxed stronger and more determined from age to age, and will continue to do so, to the concluding scenes when the masterly working of the powers of darkness shall reach their height. Satan, united with evil men, will deceive the whole world and the churches who receive not the love of the truth. But the mighty Angel demands attention. He cries with a loud voice. Then Daniel's prophecies have their proper place in the first, second, and third angels' messages to be given to the world. The first and second angels' messages were to be proclaimed, but no further light was to be revealed before these messages had done their specific work. They chose to pretend ignorance rather than yield to their convictions and confess that they were wrong. John was that prophet sent of God, but the chief priests and scribes and Pharisees did not believe him, because his teaching revealed the defects in their religious experience and condemned their course of action. John declared that Christ must be received by them individually as a Saviour. The wicked idol of dress swallows up all that is humble, needy, and lowly in the character. It consumes the precious hours which should be devoted to meditation, searching the heart, and prayerful study of the Scriptures. In the Scriptures they would find that the pen of inspiration has traced this especially for them. "I will," writes Paul, "that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array. The influence that is gained through positions of trust is used for selfish purposes instead of for the good of others who stand approved before God more than they, for their dependence is in God, and they are seeking His glory and not their own. Even now Satan is continuing and advancing in the same line in which he began. He rules by the same laws. Our work is a solemn, serious work. It is not the order and will of God to shield His people from temptation. His people will be exposed to trial, and the very object of Christ's choosing a people from the world was to prepare them to meet and resist temptations, that when they should come in contact with the world in public life, they would be so imbued with the Spirit of God that they would not yield to corrupting influences. When truth takes possession of the heart, the Christian will be brought into conflict, and in this conflict he will need the whole armor of God, for he has to fight the good fight of faith. Do you know how to access the White estate published writings? There is also conversion kits for macs around 70 or 80 bucks that allow all Windows applications to run. SivartM Posted January 21, 2010 Share Posted January 21, 2010 Yaay, I got my late Christmas present! So, my review: The Remnant Study Bible is pretty much the coolest Bible ever. The features that I like best are: 1. Alternate translations and references are directly after the text instead of in some random place in the middle/at the bottom of the page. That makes looking at those things (which I do a lot) a whole lot faster. 2. The EGW comments, obviously. I also like that they're blue... but that's not especially relevant I suppose... 3. There is a LOT of information in the back of the Bible. There are: prophecies of the Messiah, prayers of the Bible, parables and miracles of Jesus, "How Sin Began" taken from The Great Controversy and Patriarchs and Prophets, timelines of the Genesis genealogies and of the history of the world, 8 pages telling about the sanctuary (with color pictures), more pages on prophecies of Daniel and the 2300 day prophecy (also with more colored pictures), Bible symbols and their meanings, monies, weights, and measures, the Jewish calendar, Chain-reference Bible topics (see #4), AND a really big (and presumably more exhaustive than the one in my old Bible) concordance. 4. I haven't used the chain reference very much, but I like what I've seen, and I think it's pretty good. I especially like the visual keys (picture of chains beside the relevant verses, highlighted text pointing you to the next verses). If you're into proof texts... it's even better. 5. I definitely like the introductions to each book! Each introduction has the following sections: information on the background and name, author, date, Christ in that book, key words, verses, and chapters, and overview. 6. Just the whole layout of the Bible is very visually stimulating without being overly flashy and "wow dude we have such a hip and groovy Bible for the 21st century yo". 7. Oh yeah... it has two bookmark ribbons. I definitely recommend it. And I don't even work for Remnant Publications! My mom got one of the leathersoft covers and it feels more rubbery but still good. I was afraid that the cover would be rough like some other leather Bibles... but I like it.
