Douglas, 77, died March 14, 2010, at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital, Portland. A service will be held at 2 p.m., March 20, at Forest Grove Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1950 Mountain View Lane. Phyllis Hall was born Sept. 10, 1932, in Forest Grove, the daughter of the late Leslie Gloyd and Rhea Elizabeth (Rusch) Hall. She was raised in Cornelius. On Aug. 6, 1948, she married Willis Raymond Proffitt, in Baker City. The couple lived in a converted railroad car and traveled to his job locations with Southern Pacific Railroad. They settled in Forest Grove and worked in the family business, Western States Fire Apparatus. He preceded her in death in 1977. On April 27, 1978, she married Gary Douglas, in Reno, Nev. She had a long career at Western States Fire Apparatus, eventually serving as president. She and her husband also owned Cornelius Disposal Service, Inc. She was a member of Forest Grove Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Cornelius Fire Department women's auxiliary. Phyllis was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Gloyd Hall; and grandson, Phillip Proffitt. Survivors include her husband, Gary Douglas; children, Kathryn Linda Proffitt, Francis Raymond Proffitt, Wesley Willis Proffitt, Rodney Ray Douglas and Tina Marie Douglas; sister, Bonnie Marlene Lee; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
