David_McQueen
I know we have a section for Adventist books but for those of us who read other Christian literature as well as fiction or whatever could we have a zone for booking reviews, or would this thread be appropriate enough. I have a couple of reviews I would love for us to bounce around, and possibly if it got bigger then we could post them. I wanted to include film and theatre reviews but I dont want to give anyone hear a heart attack....even if it is well with my soul! Incidentally has anyone read Mudhouse Sabbath Quote Firstborn Ministries: Spoken and written word, without apology
Nicodema
Wow, that and her earlier book, Girl meets God, both sound interesting. Thanks for mentioning those, David! Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot

David_McQueen
What do people think of the film CONSTANTINE with Keanu Reeves? Quote Firstborn Ministries: Spoken and written word, without apology
Pockey
I haven't seen Constantine, not sure if I want to. I heard it's pretty good, but my issues with it are that first, John Constantine is supposed to be a British guy that looks like Sting, instead, they get an American Keanu Reaves?! Also, Alan Moore, the creator of the original comic book, washed his hands of the project which tells me something about the movie as well. But I dunno, I may end up watching it and liking it afterall.

David_McQueen
[] [/] The Four Loves by C S Lewis is a great book. If you have not read it I will give a brief synopsis. Lewis tackles the four loves of affection, friendship, erotic love, and the love of God. The basic premise is that appreciating our love for God is the building block for any other love we may have for our fellow human. But then I am biased as he is my favourite Christian writer Quote Firstborn Ministries: Spoken and written word, without apology
Nicodema
I used to really enjoy the writings of Francis Schaeffer (the elder, not the younger) many years ago. His emphasis on the existence of absolute truth and absolute reality really resonated with me at the time. Escape from Reason was one in particular I enjoyed. It talked about all the "isms" man uses to get away from the simple fact that truth exists. Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S.
