Stan Posted May 1, 2010 Share Posted May 1, 2010 Betty Clifford Walters . SPARTANBURG, SC-- Betty C. Walters, 78, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 29, 2010, after a prolonged illness. Ms. Walters was born on June 29, 1931, to the late Mearl and Golda Clifford. She married the late Richard V. Walters July 3, 1948. Ms. Walters, along with her husband, founded Walters & Company, Inc. in Spartanburg, a real estate and construction business. Ms. Walters was named Business Woman of the Year by the American Business Women's Association in 1977. She later moved to Florida and started her own business, Trend Supply Company. Apart from enjoying a successful business career, Ms. Walters was a true Patriot, devout Christian, a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, loved working in her yard and cherished her Yorkies, Butchie, Benny, and Dolly. Ms. Walters is survived by a daughter, Peggy Ewing and husband Robert; a son, Clifford Walters and wife Rosalind, all of Spartanburg; and siblings, Shirley Holland, Virginia Stremming, and Donald Clifford, all of Indiana. She was predeceased by four brothers, Ralph Clifford, Glenn Clifford, Harold Clifford, Wayne Clifford; and one sister, Vera Clifford. Ms. Walters had 13 grandchildren: Kristen Lopez and husband Fernando, Lindley Ewing, Matt Ewing and wife Missy, Tyler Ewing, Chapin Ewing, Crey Ewing and wife Amanda, Perry Wiltfang and wife Lou, Cal Walters and wife Natalie, Stephanie Wiltfang and fiancé Geoff del Forn, Abbey Ewing, Ari Ewing, Rini Ewing, and Zani Ewing. Ms. Walters had 15 great-grandchildren: Taylor Bishop, Alysa Ewing, Hannah Lopez, Andrew Ewing, Alexandra Lopez, Aaron Ewing, Elias Ewing, Adam Ewing, David Lopez, Sami Ewing, Anna Ewing, Cici Lopez, Jocie Ewing, Brice Ewing, and Toli Ewing. The family will receive friends at the home of Cliff and Rosalind Walters, 116 Leinster Run, Moore, SC, Sunday, May 2, 2010, after 1:00 PM. A celebration of Ms. Walters' life will be held at Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1217 John B. White, Sr. Blvd. on Monday, May 3, 2010, at 4 o'clock, officiated by Pastor Jerry LaFave, followed by a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Point West, Building #101, Spartanburg, SC, 29301.
