WAYNESBORO — Wilbur L. Johnson, 81, of Waynesboro departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at his residence. He was born Aug. 2, 1929, in Augusta County, son of the late Vance and Catherine (Parrish) Johnson. He attended Augusta County schools and was a member of Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Wilbur is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille (Vaughn) Johnson; two brothers, Clarence and Julius Johnson; and one sister, Shirley Hoge.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald (Queenie,) W. Lee (Ruth) of Staunton and Miles of Tacoma, Wash.; three daughters, Vickie of Waynesboro, Gale of Webster City, Iowa, and Zaneanna of Baltimore, Md.; six brothers, James, Calvin, Carson, Douglas, Jett and Raymond; four sisters, Jean, Barbara, Anna and Constance; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; a special granddaughter, Kinsasha Johnson; and a host of family and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at the Staunton Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 1000 N. Coalter St. The family will receive friends at the following residences: 541 E. Main St., Waynesboro, and 1214 Spaulding St., Staunton.

Lewis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
