Prophecy is not a salvational issue. It has no power to cause anyone to be saved or lost.

It turned out to be a salvational issue for the Jews that rejected and crucified Jesus. If they had of understood the prophecy, they would have known who He was, and would not have forever sealed their fate by having Him put to death.

Jesus said that they wouldn't believe even if someone rose from the dead, so I doubt a correct understanding of prophecy would have changed their minds.

for the people at NOAH's time it was crucial for them to understand and be;ieve the prophesy

just a thought!

BTW

i must say

when JESUS first saves u that is salvation

and in your growth u learn deeper and deeper GODS CHARACTER AND LOVE

u learn of HIS LAW

and u learn of HIS PLAN!

if u resist growing and learning

u resist the SALVATION!

duh

All progress in the Spiritual Life is knowing and Loving GOD

"there is non upon earth that I desire besides YOU" PS 73:25

That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.

No, the problem with prophecy is that people are afraid to say what they really think. Out of fear of being labeled or offending this person or that person. That's why there is never any good discussion.

I'm not perfect. I still make mistakes and put my foot in my mouth occasionally. So what! At least I'm not afraid to share, unlike some people......

No, they wouldn't believe even if one rose from the dead, because they misunderstood the prophecy. That's why it's important not to be tricked into believing a lie.

Luke 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, .......... go ye not therefore after them.

Matthew 17:10 And His disciples asked Him, "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first ?" 11 And He answered and said, "Elijah is coming and will restore all things ; 12 but I say to you that Elijah already came, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands." 13 Then the disciples understood that He had spoken to them about John the Baptist.

If the prophecy experts had a correct understanding of the prophecy of Malicai 4:5-6. The experts were looking for Elijah and not the one proclaiming the "Elijah message". I am sure that the scribes had told the disciples that they were ignorant of the true meaning and interpretation of the prophecies. That they were being deceived by this "imposter" who claimed to be the Son of God and was thought by many to possibly be the Messiah.

In the words of the Son of God, the prophecy experts failed to recognize the "prophet Elijah", not because the prophecy was never ment to be understood, but because their understanding of the prophecy was in error.

In this same account the Son of God states, "Elijah is coming and will restore all things", thus speaking of a future fulfillment that will start and bring about the restoration of God's glory to the whole earth (see Numbers 14:21). It would stand to reason then, that the future "Elijah type prophet" would not be recognized by the experts on prophecy; because they have an incorrect understanding, or have no expectation of a fulfillment of this prophecy at all.
