The pioneers were certainly all for passing laws directed at the "sin" of alcohol use. In effect, legislating morality. I support that concept. You can't lump "all sin" into one pile. Look at the impact of alcohol on society, it certainly needs to be controlled, regulated. Thats not legislating morality it's just common sense. Freeing the slaves? Taking away an owners RIGHT to own another human? Just common sense. Regulating drugs? Same thing.

Now we come to the gay community. Yup, it to needs to be regulated. Lets start with gay marriage, not acceptable. It is morally corrupt and damaging to society, regardless of the argument it's not. It's just common sense.

Awesome post.

True that phk, but not the first time I've received personal attacks from this poster. Frankly, getting a little fed up with the bad attitude.
Completely understandable. See "helicopter moderator" for further insight.

Well, we see RLH and Olger believe religious freedom only applies to those who don't wish to work Fri sundown to Sab sundown...

The problem is, as I see it if sin is sin, then keeping Sunday is sin and we should do something about that too, as in legislation...

Any takers at working for legislation to forbid the keeping of Sunday as the Sabbath, since it is sin?

it does have everything to do with religiouse freedom!

the freedom not to have a religion that condems or prohibit them from living and choosing their life

the freedom from hate of religion

Or the ability of 1% of the population being able to demand that the other 99% include them in an institution for which they have had no previous qualification to participate in.

Yes; I think you are right Doug. It is becoming fashionable to indoctrinate society with the idea of how it must be "hatred" when someone disagrees with a given lifestyle.

its 10 percent of the population

and u are gonna have to sit with that

and since the military has now accepted homosexuals in their ranks

it looks like marriage is around the corner

is the christian political machine working?

i suggest the christian political machine switch gears and use their energy and money to spread the GOSPEL

and serve!

MARRIAGE OF THE BRIDE TO GOD YES

Adventists have always talked about the spiritual crisis of the last days. That crisis is here.

We are seeing before our very eyes a brazen, deliberate, concerted attack on the three foundational pillars in the book of Genesis: Creation, Sabbath, and (in this case) marriage.

Clearly there's a sinister force behind it all, and we should face the issue with the utmost seriousness. Silence is not an option. The stakes are too high.

Of course, but who is bullying who? It is not "bullying" someone when you will not let them coerce you into supporting a way of life you can't condone. That is stretching the word "bully" and it has nothing to do with reality. Are you saying I am "bullying" you, or that I "hate" you, just because I disagree with you?

This gospel shall be preached.......

And this gospel is only marriage should be between man and woman.

Any on care to give me a Bible text in context that would support this gospel????

Or is this an SDA gospel?

Can't we just get real here instead of injecting 'what I want it to be'?

Will ya'll ever give up trying to trying to make the Gospel of Christ into something it isn't? Sheesh!

Thumbs down x 2.

the GOSPEL is the mission

not legislation of morality

not gonna join in on that

You put a lot of elipses into John 3:16 which automatically puts what you say, out of context. Show us a text, in context, that shows us this is all there is to the "gospel."

You cannot deny that the three fundamentals I named above are under serious and determined assault. There must be a reason for it.

The love of falsehoods also characterizes the crises I mentioned thereof. Anyone who wants to dismiss or minimize those three fundamental doctrines on creation, Sabbath, and marriage; also denies in totality, John chapter 3.

So, now I am not only guilty of hating you, and forcing you, I am also "satanic" for disagreeing with you on something. You need to examine what you preach here about how to treat others. It's all too clear what would happen here if I said the same things about you.

My biggest concern about gay marriage is that it infringes on religious liberty of religious people that believe homosexuality is wrong. But as we near the end of time society will become more and more like Sodom so I am ready to see gay marriage become the norm. It is a sign that the end is near.

6 years now. Surely there would be all kinds of stories if others rights have been infringed in some way.

There are all kinds of stories. The "It Is Written" telecast did a program with the director of Religious Liberty in Canada a couple of years ago. Just contact the Religious Liberty departments in these countries and they can tell you "all kinds of stories".

I doubt that you would accept context but try these out anyway: "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.""Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her...For we are members of His body, and of His flesh and of His bones...This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.""But did He not make them one having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks a godly offspring."

If that's too complicated there's a simple rule of thumb to measure this by. "Christ came into the world to save sinners..." Same sex sex is a sin and the gospel is to save humans from sin. Therefore the gospel cannot support same sex marriage and at the same time work to save couples from it. Marriage is God's proper institution to express human sexual desires. Therefore marriage serves as a tool of the gospel for those who struggle with their sexual urges.
