David_McQueen
Whilst cries of election fixing and what not come out of Zimbabwe, I get the feeling that the Zanu PF party actually played the political ball game to their advantage. Turnout was 50% and many of the gains were made in political strongholds already dominated by ZPF. Although the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) made gains it would still appear that much of the countries sentiment, whether through fear or otherwise, still rests in a tried and tested government, and it will take much more tham simple politicking to change the mindset of a whole nation. According to the BBC [:"brown"] Observers from the SADC said the poll was "peaceful, transparent, credible and well managed", although they expressed concern at the opposition's lack of access to state-owned media.[/] It made me think that often from the outside we want to change countries and quickly through democaracy. But with change there is a need for follow through and it does not happen over night. It will be interesting to see how such cange if any will tip the balance of power in Zimbabwe Quote Firstborn Ministries: Spoken and written word, without apology
