I agree except for the year 33 CE... It's 34 not 33.

"Note that the table of contents of the Tribes of Israel is different in Rev. 7 than it is in Exodus, and is also different than the names of the Tribes that came out of Egypt. This is another indication that it is not the same Israel as Ancient Israel."

>And you need to discover why the tribal listings are different .... the answer is in your Bible

>Revelation 7 and 14 reveal literal ethnic Israelites [not gentiles] .... and not any part of the Lord's church of today

When using the Gospel method of interpretation as opposed to the geographical method, numbers and names have symbolic meaning. The names of the tribes mentioned in Rev.7 are symbolic names and the number 12,000 is a symbolic number which signifies that all, no matter what their background may be, have an equal chance to become a member of this illustrious company of people, the 144,000, if they will daily apply to the merits of Jesus in order to become vessels fit for the Master's use.

In the parable of the ten virgins the 144,000 are also symbolized by the number 5.

Babylon the Great in the book of Revelation is a symbolic name just as the waters upon which she sits has a symbolic name: Euphrates. These waters symbolize the multitudes of this earth who will give their support to Babylon the Great until they realize that they have been duped. This will happen at the time of the fith plague when they are about to execute the death decree upon God's true people. Darkness will fall upon the earth and they will lose sight of God's people and the next thing is that they will see God's rainbow hovering over the people of God. It is then that they will realize that they have been deceived and they will fall at the feet of the saints to acknowledge that God has loved them and they will get back on their feet accusing one another but all will agree to put the blame upon the false shepherds for being forever lost. The swords that were to be used to slay God's people are now employed to kill their enemies. Thus the River Euhphrates is to be dried up. The multitudes withdraw their support from Babylon the Great and the sixth plague is when they turn upon her and destroy her completely. This prepares the way for the kings of the east to appear in the clouds of Heaven, Jesus and the redeemed who are coming with Him.

I have a question for you, Truth Files:

Do you believe that Babylon in Revelation is literal or symbolic?

Please explain why or why not depending on your answer.

Thanks.
