Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted April 6, 2005 Moderators Share Posted April 6, 2005 I like peanut butter an onion, especially if they are made the night before, and kept in the fridge overnight. Quote Gregory

Clio
I gotta try that... P-nut butter and anything vege usually deserves at least one try.... I like Peanut butter and lettuce and Peanut butter and pickle.... But for overnight sandwiches? The very, very best is leftover cottage cheese pecan patties with mushroom gravy... on whole wheat with mayo and onion... left over night and taken to work the next day.... *slurp* I'm salivating now... and I just ate! Moderators Nan Posted April 6, 2005 Moderators Share Posted April 6, 2005 Bet no one has tried peanut butter and Marmite and banana together on a sandwich ..... Toni
Oh! I tried peanut butter and applesauce on toast at a friend's house for a Sabbath afternoon meal, and I had never heard of such a thing! They thought I was crazy for never having heard of it . I didn't grow up in the Adventist church -I guess there are many things to learn! LOL. Clio
Oh yeah... Yum.... and Peanut butter on apples too... I've been contemplating the concept of a Peanut Butter Apple Pie, but can't get my family to agree to try it if I make it.... Clio Quote A heart where He alone has first place. Clio
Noooo.. can't get marmite here in Alaska.... Now Peanut Butter and Applesauce on toast... oh yeah... that's dinner... We also do Peanut Butter and Applesauce on pancakes, french toast, and waffles.... My son takes it even further... and adds syrup to the peanut butter prior to adding applesauce. Since he's 16, 6'2" and not overweight... I urge him to caution but don't outright forbid.... hopefully when he finishes growing he won't want all those carbs.... Yikes. Enough already... he wears a size 16 shoe.... Clio Quote A heart where He alone has first place.

Clio
Make it and put it in front of them.... K... I can do that... but I've got to finishe the recipe first.... so far I'm up to Apples and Peanut butter. I'm not sure what the peanut butter will do when I bake it. so I'm thinking maybe melting it and adding a little flour might be in order... and I'm also contemplating adding a little sugar and cinnamon... maybe some nutmeg too. The next question that comes to mind is... does it firm up like a lemon or cream pie? Or does it stay gooey like a regular apple pie.... Just some points to ponder before potentially wasting time, effort and food... but I'm getting there... Thoughts? Quote A heart where He alone has first place. Toni
Maybe you can make some sort of peanut butter glaze with powdered sugar and water and drizzle it on the top crust when the pie is done? Toni Quote Toni

Guest
All these concoction I just read makes me longing for a "jam" sandwich, forget all the spreads, I will just JAM two pieces of bread together made from scratch. Not the kind one buys in the store where the ingredient are printed with BROWN ink on BROWN paper on BROWN bread, because “better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith”. Anyone remember how pennut butter was discovered?? It may have been safe to eat at one time but fungus has invaded that crop. Roast your own almonds and grind those, and then you will throw you peanut butter away. Or ground up sesame seeds.
aldona
Sesame seeds...yummm...now that reminds me of one of my favorite sandwiches. Tahini (sesame seed paste) and honey on a really grainy, chunky whole wheat bread. Even better on toast. as for the peanut butter and marmite...I'm a life-long marmite eater, but I could never bring myself to combine it with peanut butter. aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? Clio
Ok... how about this... my mom used to make a kind of SDA pate.... the main ingredients were peanut butter and tomato juice... salt... and something else.... The recipe was in the Apple a Day cookbook put out by LLU doctor's wives... Anyone remember that or ever had it? It was awesome on Triscuits. Clio Quote A heart where He alone has first place. My son's favorite of all sandwiches is peanut butter and honey (mix the honey with the p b so it doesn't soak through the bread, which he hates). In fact, he likes to dip his apples now in p-b/honey. ANd he asked for a p-b/honey/jelly sandwich. I gave him one, but will probably draw the line there. AFter all, he doesn't need THAT much sugar in one sandwich! (he's 5) I also used to eat p-b and pickles, though haven't recently. Still like it, though. M
