Big tobacco has lobbyists with lots of $$$ that makes sure they aren't put out of business. Also the government makes a lot of tax $$$ off this product. They have a license to produce a product that brings death. No way around that. If the product wasn't available, legally, then the average person couldn't make that bad choice to go down to a store and get hooked on that product. In the same way if that abortion doctor wasn't available, legally speaking, then your average pregnant female couldn't march down to the local clinic and have an abortion. Both big tobacco and abortion clinics exist because of lobbyists. To lobby, according to Wikipedia, is the act of attempting to influence decisions made by officials in the government, most often legislators or members of regulatory agencies. Lobbying is done by various people or groups, from private-sector individuals or corporations, fellow legislators or government officials, or advocacy groups (interest groups). If the poor was such a burden for liberals in general there would be a lot heavier personal donations.Instead they want government to enforce their christian charity.Of course after a large chunk goes into the pockets for administration.
