Eugene S. Willet, 78, of Saylorsburg, died Friday, March 16, in Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. He was the husband of Catherine P. (Wentz) Willet. They had observed their 17th wedding anniversary in July. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Jacob and Helen (Komp) Willet. He had worked for the Coplay Cement Co. for 30 years before retiring. He also served in the United States Army as a medic for two years. Gene was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Stroudsburg, and he also helped at the church's community center for 18 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Douglas Willet of Denver, Colo. and Dale Willet and his wife, Helen, of Marshalltown, Iowa; a daughter, Deborah Willet of Rifle, Colo.; three stepsons, Michael Bauer of Coaldale, Ricky Bauer of Gilbert and James Bauer of Stroudsburg; two stepdaughters, Delores Bear of Breinigsville and Lori Markley of Lehighton; a sister, Norma Leap of Sciota; two brothers, Wayne Willet and his wife, Jackie, of Rock Hill, S.C.; and Harvey Willet and his wife, Betty, of Lehighton; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nola M. Collins and Evelyn M. Fralick.

Memorial services will be held in the Seventh Day Adventist Church at a date and time to be announced. Cremation will have taken place in the H. G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church or the Seventh Day Adventist Church Community Center, W. Main St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
