Michelle
Stan--from what I understand the Smart ForFour will be marketed in the States next year (?) (not sure time wise) but not the Smart Two. We see these all over in HK--cuter than you can imagine, but very expensive. There is one parked right next to my 7 passenger car right now (mine's the one on the right), with a cover over it, LOL. It belongs to the women's dean's boyfriend, who just bought a ForFour, which is just as cute. A couple of the college guys have been driving around the Two, just "trying it out", ha ha. The guys just drool over these things. In fact, every time we walk past it, my almost 6 year old son says, Mom, why don't we get one of those? I say, yeah, that would be SO practical, with 4 in our family, groceries, musical instruments! But it's the boys' favorite car of all time! darlene
They are cute. We're seeing more and more of them. Saw a silver one today on a country road. Don't they use gas like other cars but, with much better mileage?
Stan
Makes me wonder what they would be like on a bumpy road... thinking about the safety of them. Stan
If you are tired of your Smart's colour, or if the plastic body panels are damaged, they can easily be replaced. You can get different shades and probably install them yourself. How can ANYONE not want one of these?? []http://www.clubadventist.com/ubbthreads/attachments/171677-smart_color.jpg[/] Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com

Moderators Bravus Posted May 8, 2005 Moderators Share Posted May 8, 2005 It's never made that much sense to drag a ton of steel around with us to move a few hundred pounds of people. Motorcycles make more sense, but there are the problems with wind, rain and lack of protection. I think these little machines are a great idea, and hope we'll see more of them in the near future. Now we just have to treat giant SUVs the same way we treat smoking: unhealthy for people and the environment, and discouraged but not banned. Not only for their own sake, but because one of the things that would dissuade me from buying a Smart is the fear of being run over and not even noticed by a Hummer! Amelia
I went to the web site and noticed that the basic car with no accessories or add ons is about $16,000. Now, if you want heat and A/c and music etc etc etc, the price goes up. Im also wondering how fast you could get that to go with peddle pumping power? Or like those radios that you wind up for a min and they run for 30. Amelia
Lorry driver shunted Smart car down mway A lorry driver shunted a tiny Smart car two miles down a busy German motorway because he didn't know it was wedged to his truck. Klaus Buergermeister only stopped, allowing the Smart car's terrified driver to escape, when he was flagged down by police. The trucker, 53, pushed the tiny car driven by Andreas Bolga, 48, along the busy A1 after pulling onto the autobahn at Leverkusen. He said he was surprised when a patrol car signalled for him to stop as he was not driving too fast and had only had his vehicle serviced the week before. "I couldn't believe it when I got out of the truck and saw there was a car stuck on the front of it," he said. He added he had felt a slight bump, but said he thought he had simply driven over a stone in the road. Instead he had hit the Smart car and its bumper had wedged on the truck's radiator grill. Mr Bolga said: "I was driving at just under 60mph when the truck came onto the motorway and hit me. "I tried to drive away but couldn't. I looked up through my sun roof and could see the driver, but he didn't notice me." Police say no action will be taken against the truck driver. Dr. Shane
I don't imagine these cars will become popular until they come down in price. For sure they need to get under $10K.
