Stan Posted March 30, 2012 Share Posted March 30, 2012 William passed at his Alameda home from natural causes at the age of 76. He was born in Suisun, Calif. and grew up in Vallejo. Earle attended Auburn Adventist Academy in Washington and graduated as president of his class in May 1953. He then served honorably with the United States Army state side and in Europe from 1954 to 1956. Then he went on to Yuba College in Marysville, Calif. and earned an associate art degree in June 1957. In 1961 Earle became employed with the City of Alameda Bureau of Electricity as a Stockroom Clerk and retired 33 years later in 1995 as a System Operator/Dispatcher. In 1993 the Bureau honored him as "Exceptional Employee of the Year" for his exemplary work performance and for his work on citywide electrical mapping and upkeep. Bill was active in theatre and performed in numerous productions at London Circle Players, Oakland Civic Theatre, Alameda's Altarena Playhouse, and more. He enjoyed long drives, singing, his kitties and was an avid reader since childhood. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joanne; his sons Zachary, Kevin and Christopher; granddaughters Kelly and Jennifer; and sisters Evelyn and Betty.
