Ted Oplinger
Indeed, Kevin, it was with this very same confession that Jesus not only accepted Peter, but also declared him ready to lead in the ministry Christ had appointed for Peter with the words, "Feed My lambs". Christ brought Peter back around to the point where he had denied Christ (right down to the fire of coals setting), and showed publicly the healing of Peter had begun in earnest - hence, he was qualified to now tend to the weakest of the flock. It is knowing one's real place before God, being honest with God before people, that is the essence of humility. We extend that when we are honest to each other with who and what we are, and in no way place a stumbling block between others and the Living God we are honest with. Blessings, all Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J.
