I'm told by adventist 31 AD Friday Crucifixion. Is this correct?

The reason I ask the question and i'm taking the poll is to see peoples opinion on the matter, but also to take a chance to share some interesting charts like the one below which illustrate prophecy fulfilment in 30 AD where the tradition of the Friday crucifixion falls short of the words professed in the 3 days and 3 nights prophecy.

The below chart also illustrates the middle of the 70th week for the Daniel prophecy to have achieved a double prophecy fulfillment in concert with the 3 days and 3 nights prophecy being fulfilled in accordence with the laws of Moses concerning Passover.

Is there truth in this concept?

This chart is very facinating. It illustrates all the differing perceptions that exist in the Christian world for how 3 days and 3 nights was allegedly fulfilled. Which portion of the chart do you think best represents the word of God when Jesus spoke 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth?

Sounds like the crucifixion was on the 6th day, Friday.

"21 ¶ From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day."(Matt 16:21)

"23 And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry."(Matt 17:23)

"19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again."(Matt 20:19)

"64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first."(Matt 27:64)

"31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day."(Mark 9:31)

"34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again."(Mark 10:34)

"22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day."(Luke 9:22)

"32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected ."(Luke 13:32)

"33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again."(Luke 18:33)

"7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again."(Luke 24:7)

"46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:"(Luke 24:46)

"38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:

40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;

41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead."(Acts 10:38-41)

"That which led to this movement was the discovery that the decree of Artaxerxes for the restoration of Jerusalem, which formed the starting point for the period of the 2300 days, went into effect in the autumn of the year 457 B.C., and not at the beginning of the year, as had been formerly believed. Reckoning from the autumn of 457, the 2300 years terminate in the autumn of 1844.

Arguments drawn from the Old Testament types also pointed to the autumn as the time when the event represented by the "cleansing of the sanctuary" must take place. This was made very clear as attention was given to the manner in which the types relating to the first advent of Christ had been fulfilled.

The slaying of the Passover lamb was a shadow of the death of Christ. Says Paul: "Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us." 1 Corinthians 5:7. The sheaf of first fruits, which at the time of the Passover was waved before the Lord, was typical of the resurrection of Christ. Paul says, in speaking of the resurrection of the Lord and of all His people: "Christ the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at His coming." 1 Corinthians 15:23. Like the wave sheaf, which was the first ripe grain gathered before the harvest, Christ is the first fruits of that immortal harvest of redeemed ones that at the future resurrection shall be gathered into the garner of God.

These types were fulfilled, not only as to the event, but as to the time. One of the fourteenth day of the first Jewish month, the very day and month on which for fifteen long centuries the Passover lamb had been slain, Christ, having eaten the Passover with His disciples, instituted that feast which was to commemorate His own death as "the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." That same night He was taken by wicked hands to be crucified and slain. And as the antitype of the wave sheaf our Lord was raised from the dead on the third day, "the first fruits of them that slept," a sample of all the resurrected just, whose "vile body" shall be changed, and "fashioned like unto His glorious body." Verse 20; Philippians 3:21."(Great Controversy, 1911, pages 398-399)

Go here and check this out,

http://www.wake-up.org/daystar/ds1999/JUL99A.htm

Go down 7 pages and a bit more, til you see in bold letter "Jesus died on time", the calendar of that time can be retrived to show this is right.

Folks it is by the Jubilee calendar and the prophecy hits dead on. The proper math proves it too.

Dr. Luke leaves no room for doubting the Friday crucifixion:

ESV | ‎Lk 23:50 Now there was a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of Arimathea. He was a member of the council, a good and righteous man, ‎51 who had not consented to their decision and action; and he was looking for the kingdom of God. ‎52 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. ‎53 Then he took it down and wrapped it in a linen shroud and laid him in a tomb cut in stone, where no one had ever yet been laid. ‎54 It was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning. ‎55 The women who had come with him from Galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. ‎56 Then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

And neither does the eyewitness Apostle JOHN:

ESV | ‎Jn 19:31 Since it was the day of Preparation, and so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.

Both Matthew & Mark also say that Jesus died on the Day of Preparation which is Friday.

As I understand it, to the Jews of that time, 3 days could be three 24 hr days, or one 24 hr day and only portions of the first and the third day. There is no question that He was crucified on Friday and rose on the first day of the week. This is what the Bible says. SDAs are only teaching what what the Book says.

Consider this below testimony. Every word of it minus the brackets illustrating day transitions are found in the bible. This example is from the four bible gospels with all the words listed in chronological order. It appears that the bible does illustrate 3 days and 3 nights but due to the bible gospels being broken up in the details that they present, it's easy to miss.

(Preparation day 14 Nissan Lamb Killed) The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Then came the soldiers, and break the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they break not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

(beginning of High day 15 Nissan) Now After this when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph a prominent council member a good and just man. He had not consented to their decision and deed, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus, and was himself waiting for the kingdom of God. Coming and taking courage went in to Pilate but secretly, for fear of the Jews and asked for the body of Jesus. Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time. So when he found out from the centurion, Pilate then commanded the body to be given to him. When Joseph had taken the body down, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth. And the women who had come with Him from Galilee, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses, followed after, and they sitting opposite the tomb observed the tomb and how His body was laid And he laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock where no one had ever lain before, and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed. On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation (Daytime 15 Nissan High day by Jewish reckoning of time) the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, saying, ―Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ‗After three days I will rise.‘ Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, ‗He has risen from the dead.‘ So the last deception will be worse than the first.‖ Pilate said to them, You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how. So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard. (End testimony for High day; begin testimony for Preparation day 16 Nissan) And when the Sabbath was past, that day was the Preparation; Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils that they might come and anoint him. (End testimony for Preparation day 16 Nissan; Begin Seventh day Sabbath 17 Nissan) And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment. (End Seventh day Sabbath 17 Nissan; Begin testimony for First day of the week 18 Nissan) The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulcher, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulcher.

Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulcher, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher.

And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulcher at the rising of the sun.

One of the things we have to consider is the fact that the bible seems to be confused as to what Jesus actally said. Did Jesus say "rise the third day" Or "after three days". There is a big difference between the two which the Author of the slide makes a point to illustrate. It does not matter which phrase is repeated more by the bible Gospels which were re-written multiple times by Catholic men in the second and third centuries, who may have inserted translational bias in support of a friday Crucifixion theory. I don't make this assumption with out presenting evidence. See the below two charts.

In this first chart you can clearly see the first two examples of bible text from differing gospels attempt to capture in writing what Jesus actually said (Scripture) for a single moment in time for his ministry when predicting the crucifixion event. one is true Scripture and one is a misrepresentation of what was spoken. In this chart example, Ancient texts are compared with one another to illustrate the posibility that translational bias occured in the past.

In-three-days-or-after-three-days-2.png

In this next chart example, the bible appears to be telling us specifically what is false testimony and what is true testimony concerning the prophecy of Jesus.

todd, you might be right If there was only one passover kept by all the Jews. There was two however at this time and two days apart. Jesus and many kept it from calculating the first sliver of the moon but those who crucified Him did it by sighting it. It can't be done acurately when the first sliver is at the setting sun, it can't be seen and so they were two days later.

Go here and scroll dn 7 pages and about a half and start reading, To where "Jesus died on time" in bold.

"It becomes clear that the mark 14 testimony is a recording of the False Witnesses testimony concerning Christ‘s prophecy. When compared to the Matthew 27 verse we see The Pharisees quote clearly what Jesus actually spoke and therefore had to fulfill if he was indeed the Son of God and prophesied Messiah. We then see that words were taken out of the bible gospels when compared to the G-12 text. Was this done to support the False testimony that Christ would rebuild the temple "within Three days"? Is this evidence of the Bad seed of Half truth sown in the night by God‘s enemy to cause the crucifixion confusion?

We have seen from Historical witnesses that a confusion existed in the Christian church as early as the second and third century as to what Day of the week Christ was captured and crucified. Prophecy and it‘s fulfillment all point to a Wednesday Death with a first day of the week during the midnight hours resurrection of the Messiah. This would certainly be past the third day and completely fulfill the Sign of Jonah which states 3 days and 3 nights."

Soooo, "Words were taken out of the Bible Gospels" and the Holy Bible cannot be trusted as the very Word of God and God is so feeble that He cannot control what is in it?

And all this time I thought that God was the creator of billions upon billions of galaxies containing billions upon billions of stars and planets by the breath of His mouth.

I agree.

Todd Vetter33 thinks that the Wednesday crucifixion theory must be accepted in order for the unbelieving world to acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah. He also thinks that the differences between the texts concerning the time of the crucifixion is proof that Satan managed to introduce false teachings into the Gospels.

From my perspective, he is confused and makes a mountain out of a mole-hill.

In my judgment, what Gerry Cabalo wrote in post #574126 is the best answer:

There is debate about the G-12 Text. Some claim it to be an 18th Century forgery due to it being translated and published in 1877AD and due to the overal content of it. This claim is proven factually false and I'll share evidence to support that G-12 is ancient.

Facts about this document

-it is a gospel containing 96 chapters of continuous information.

- It is the only Gospel that can be used to illustrate Jesus (the Lamb) being chosen by the people on the tenth day, killed 4 days later on Passover, and then spent 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth (Tomb).

-It is the only ancient christian text to illustrate that Jesus came according to the flesh.

-It preserves a Vegetarian health message taught by Jesus and the true meaning of the last supper.

-Best of all the G-12 gospel is not perfect, but was clearly the source document for the 4 bible gospels in use by the Christian world today. True word of God came to allthe prophets, Jesus, and his true followers via the spirit of truth. Most Christians today call a book word of God but do they make a false God in doing so?

-It is factually a peice of early Christian history.

This first Page below validates that the G-12 text is Factually ancient. The words shared by G-12 and Gospel of Thomas where not known to exist at the time G-12 was being translated. Anyone claiming G-12 is not ancient is simply stating a lie.

I do think there are many in the world who would be more accepting of Jesus if truth about Jesus was being told. It is stated in the proverbs that only a true witness delivers souls. The Jesus currently being presented by the Christian world was not a true witness if he did not fulfill 3 days and 3 nights.

Jews today claim Jesus to be a false prophet. Christians say true prophet and Messiah.

Who is telling the truth?

It's a credibility issue. If the true worshippers of God are to be in spirit and in truth, who are they and where are they today?

It is stated in the bible those who claim Jesus came according to the flesh are of God. Those who claim he came not according to the flesh are not of God. I know You and I came according to the flesh. Why then does the Christian world for the better part of Christian history claim Jesus did not come according to the flesh? This testimony from early Christian history shows Jesus did come according to the flesh and contains the testmiony of Matt and Luke.

Did Jesus promise you a book or a perfect spirit? I'm certain the spirit of God (source of the word of God for every prophet who ever existed can in fact be trusted). But just cross comparing the 4 bible gospels for single moments in the history of Jesus attempting to quote him cause doubts that the book can be trusted. I find it silly when Christians claim the book to be word of God, call it perfect then claim Jesus did not have to fulfill word of God when he spoke 3 days and 3 nights. They then claim word of God (words of truth spoken) is not perfect.

If we are not to tell a lie and the book is telling a lie about what Jesus said. are we teaching a truth according to the spirit or a lie from the father of lies?

How then are we loving God above all, our neighbor or self if we do not repent?

Can the spirit of God bring to rememberance ALL things Jesus said? If Yes since the bible makes this claim, why does the bible not display this? Which of the below sections of bible testimony brings to rememberance ALL things Jesus said for this single moment of his ministry?

Mixed-testimony.png

Instead of Jesus saying you are peter and upon this rock, was jesus actually claiming the spirit within him was the true rock?

mixed-tesimony1.png

I do belive God's word is unchanging if received VIA the spirit of Promise. History factually reveals the bible has changed many time and therefore cannot be in truth called the word of God.

Methinks I will trust the Bible. You know, The one that you can buy at Walmart or the Dollar Store for a few bucks.

It would appear that the Textus Receptus has worked very well for millions of Christians through the procession of history as witnessed by millions of baptisms, amazing conversions of the lost, and changed lives, miracle deliverances from sin and the untold stories of millions of Christians that have shed their innocent blood for it.

Not to mention the workings of Satan in his all out rampage to wipe Christianity and the Bible off of the face of the planet earth. The Holy Bible as it stands today still survives and THRIVES on a hostile planet even though it is hated, ridiculed, denounced and banned under penalty of death by it's foes!

Methinks God has His mighty, infinite, and protecting Hand on it still.

By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}

For anyone doubting the Wednesday Crucifixion, they simply need to know the time line of the original Passover Lamb. The original Passover Lamb was slain on a Wednesday. The Scripture of time validates this to be fact!

Exodus 16 Is specific to the second month of the same year of the Exodus. This testimony can be used to determine that the original passover lamb died on a 14 Nissan Wednesday. According to the laws of Moses that Jesus claimed to fulfill, 14 Nissan is a preparation day to the 15th of Nissan (Sabbath).

See Fact based charts below.

Exodus-16.png

Exodus-12-and-16-Validates-Wednesday-Pas

Since a preparation day always precedes a Sabbath where no customary work is to be performed, Christians who support the Friday Crucifixion theory cannot say factually that the testimony in the 4 bible gospels is referring only to a preparation day prior to a seventh day Sabbath. In claiming Jesus did not have to be in the tomb for the full duration of time specified by Word of God/Prophecy, they in effect claim the word of God is not perfect while claiming a book is perfect.

There was two passovers that yr. and Jesus and His did it by calculating the first sliver of the moon but the Jews against Him used the Babylonian method and the sliver was not seen for two days by them because of sunset and moon rise was with each other in the west. So the Jes passover was late by two days is the answer.

They all kept moonths and ours are not really moonths but as Enochs 12 divisions of the yr. Passover is mid moonth. and some were off in keeping it.

1. No text says that Christ was buried on the Sabbath or that spices were applied to His body during the Sabbath.

2. No text says that the woman did anything but rest on the Sabbath.

3. We know from the Gospel's that they observed the place where Jesus was buried - before the Sabbath and that they went away to prepare spices.

4. no text says that because of Mary Magdalene washing the feet of Jesus - that His body could not be wrapped in spices prior to burial.

5. The spices bought by the women - before the Sabbath was being brought by them early on the first day of the week - after the Sabbath to prepare the body of Christ - apparently the late burial on Friday did not put the body of Christ to rest in a way considered appropriate so they were returning after the Sabbath to finish what had been started - and they knew they would need someone to roll away the stone.

Luke 24 says that sunday Evening is the "Third day since all of these things happened" where "these things" are the trial and execution of Christ as told in Luke 24.

There are two bible gospels which claim Evening had come before Joseph (A council member) asked Pilate to remove the body of Jesus from the cross. Joseph being a council member had to do this under cover of darkness since the Jewish council decided to break the legs of the two thieves and remove them from the cross, but agreed to leave Jesus with his side peirced hanging on the cross.

Jesus was not removed from the cross at the time the thieves where removed. The thieves were removed just before sunset. They were not removed because Jesus died in the 9th hour. The thieves, like Jesus were condemned to die on a cross and would have hung on the cross for every available hour of light.

The greater majority of Christianity will agree that Jesus was Crucified on 14 Nissan. Those who say otherwise are lying. There are ancient texts which state clearly that it was dark at the time Jesus was buried. These texts are omitted from the bible cannon record. The bible record was manipulated as you currently see it to imply he made it in the tomb before sunset, so that Christians in the early church who supported the Friday Preparation day Crucifixion Theory could count Friday as a day time period in Inclusive reckoning towards the three days.

Bottom line, Word of God (What Jesus spoke) is perfect. If Jesus said 3 days and 3 nights this is what he fulfilled if he was indeed a true prophet. Friday Theorists claim word of God is not perfect by trying to claim Jesus was in the tomb for less than the time specified by the words of truth that were spoken. The bible currently gives mixed testimony concerning if Jesus said "in three days or after three days" Does not matter which is stated more or less in the ancient record, what matter is what was actually spoken and was it truth/prophecy.

If Jesus was wrapped in spices prior to burial and the women witnessed this, Then there was no reason for the women to be coming to the tomb on the first day of the week with spices that they prepared before the Sabbath, but did not purchase until after the Sabbath had past. There is a reason the book of John omits the women with the spices all together and attempts to claim Jesus was buried with spices according to jewish coustoms. It was to support the early Christian Friday crucifixion theorists.

You are speculating Jesus was not put to rest appropriately, yet the book of John states very clearly Jesus was put to rest in accordance with Jewish customs. Which of you is lying?

Careful not to tell a lie to defend a lie.

You are correct that Jesus was not put to rest in accordance with Jewish customs. The book of John is lying when it claims he was buried according to jewish coustoms. It’s for this reason the women had to wait untill the Sabbath had past to purchase and prepare the spices that would be used to bury Jesus. They purchased and prepared them on the preparation day that occurred between the Two Sabbaths that occured in 30 AD, then rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment. The women likely tried to spice the body of Jesus on the Friday preparation day between the two Sabbaths, but the tomb was sealed by the roman guards on the Thursday Sabbath (15 Nissan High Day) the morning after Jesus was placed in the tomb. It’s for this reason the women had to return on the first day of the week when the guards would allow the women to bury Jesus according to Jewish customs.

It's all a matter of how you place the bible testimony in chronological order to see truth from the lie. Having a prophetic base line of time for truth helps to see the lie from the truth. You probably believe you bible is incapable of telling you a lie or causing you to lie if you speculate based on it. If this were true, Christianity would not be denominationally divided.

The biggest issue with the Adventist Friday Crucifxion theory is that the Passover 14 Nissan of 31 AD occured on a Monday in that year according to the scripture of Time (day cycle/week cycle/lunar cycle). These scriptures are solid fact and do not lie. A person claiming a friday Crucirixion on 14 Nissan in 31 AD is not supported by scripture. Only a pipe dream of imagination and unsupported speculation is their foundation of support.

I currently have over 15 speculations on file to justify this discrepancy concerning 31 AD do you have a new one I can add to my list? In the end, a lie built on a lie to justify a lie is still a lie and if the lie is claimed to be truth from God simply causes God to loose credibility if Christians are alleged to speak for God.

It is said that the true worshippers of God are in spirit and in truth. Is truth simply a matter of human perception or is truth from God greater? It is said that those who keep the commandments of God HAVE the testimony of Jesus. Is this any Christian living today?

There are multiple theories from Christian doctrine and history which attempt to claim Jesus fulfilled 3 days, but only one theory illustrates Jesus fulfilling 3 days and 3 nights. Which theory below is consistent with Prophecy (What Jesus actually spoke) and it's fulfillment? I tend to lean towards the time line below the red line since it illustrate the potential for Word of God (Words spoken in truth from God) to be perfect.

Many times I have to remind folks that only Christians claim the book to be word of God, but this is just a theory shared by Christians. The source for word of God is God. The book on several occasions is confused concerning what was said by Jesus for a single moment in his ministry. God is not the author of confusion, man is so therefore the book cannot be word of God.

Blessings
