"If your sacrifice for whole burnt offering is from the herd, bring a bull with no physical defects to the entrance of the Tabernacle so it will be accepted by the LORD. Lay your hand on its head so the LORD will accept it as your substitute, thus making atonement for you." Lev 1:3,4 NLT.

"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Cor 5:21 NKJ.

"Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood." Rom 3:20-25 NIV.

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isa 53:5 NIV

"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God." 1 Pe 3:18 NIV.

"It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God - that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption." 1 Cor 1:30 NIV

Thanks for the reply Gerry.

I hope you understand the differentiation I am getting at.

I m separating the substitutionary /vicarious death from the substitutionary life. With that mentioned...

As far as I am concerned..

Leviticus doesn't support..it is the former support.

2 Cor 5 doesn't get it because the verse says "might become"

Rom 3 seems to allude to it yet the last part you quoted brought the theme back to the death /sacrifice theme.

Isaiah.. is heavy on the death theme.

1 Peter..ditto

1 Cor edges on the answer..I will check into the context.

1 Cor has the best phraseology so far..

OK, how about this one?

[:"blue"]"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for the a righeous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation." Rom 5:6-11 NIV

"Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous." 5:18,19 NIV [/]
