Irene Rouse Bohlender, 88, of Denver, formerly of Greeley, passed away at Sunrise at Pinehurst Living Center in Denver, on July 15, 2013. She was born Sept. 6, 1924, to Owen and Ethel (Jenkins) Powell in Elkhart, Kan.

Irene married Harold Rouse in 1942 in Colorado Springs. He passed in 1989. She married Dale Bohlender in 1993 in Greeley. He passed in 2012.

Irene graduated from Campion Academy, and attended Colorado Women’s College for two years.

She worked at Johnstown Drug, Hewlett Packard, then owned and operated Carousel Ceramics from which she retired in 1993. Irene was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church, was certified in many areas of ceramics with painting, china and taught classes throughout the state. She was able to stay on the farm after Dale passed until her health no longer allowed. She enjoyed flower gardening and canning.

Irene is survived by her son, Dan (Mary) Rouse, Littleton, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Patty Rouse, Edgerton, Wyo.; sister, Flossie Petersen, Alamosa, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Rouse in 2001; an infant daughter; and three brothers, Junior, Lester, and Cecil.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m., with services to follow at 11 a.m., at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Monday, July 22, 2013. Interment will be at Linn Grove Cemetery. Reception in the church fellowship hall.
