Stan
If we are not going to be Merciful to others, how can we accept God's Mercy to us? Guest
No, the question is, how can we EXPECT God's mercy to us. We should always be merciful to others. Matt 6:
Administrators debbym Posted November 3, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 3, 2013 i think this is like forgiveness, mercy or forgiveness comes to us through the same gateway in the heart, and if we have closed it to others it is also closed between us and God. When it is opened between us and God it is also opened between us and others. God is wanting to stretch our hearts to express His love, He showers forgiveness and mercy upon us but when we withhold it from others we lose the blessing, and we show we are shutting it out also from our own heart. Jesus made this clear in the story of the man who was forgiven yet was exacting to his debtor. Forgive as i forgive others is the prayer. but this gate God is working to open, so he showers mercy on us as we are utterly unworthy and closed, to bring about an opening that His character can come into our hearts and become open to all. we can't learn to open our heart to others except as we experience God opening our heart to Him. Administrators Gail Posted November 7, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 7, 2013 Mercy is a pretty big concept! But how many of us crave it to be shown to us? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Textus Receptus
I believe that by definition, we cannot be merciful. Mercy belongs to God only since not one of us is blamless. Mercy is to judge and then forgive. All that we can do is forgive. Forgivness and Mercy are not synonymus. Mercy: compassion or forbearance shown especially to an offender or to one subject to one's power - Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

Administrators debbym Posted November 9, 2013 Administrators Share Posted November 9, 2013 We can only be sinners, and additionally we may become God's sinner. God has made a way for His mercy and His forgiveness, and His character to be expressed through the lives of sinners, in thought, word, and action. it is not our's but God's, and it is given to us, so we can share it.
