Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted November 15, 2013 Moderators Share Posted November 15, 2013 Jim Retzer, 65, who was a much-loved 7th grade teacher at Paradise Adventist Academy (California), collapsed and died unexpectedly on November 1, 2013. He led his students on outdoor expeditions every year, to such places as backpacking and camping with mule packing in Wyoming; and canoeing around a large lake in British Columbia. He also led a 100-mile bicycle trip for his class every year, for which the students trained every Sunday by bicycling with Mr. Retzer at 20-, 40-, 60-, and 80-mile increments. The parents also became involved. The memorial service will be held at the Paradise Adventist Church on Sabbath afternoon, November 16 at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to Mrs. Marti Retzer at 3544 Elk Ave., Chico, CA 95928. Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted November 16, 2013 Author Moderators Share Posted November 16, 2013 CORRECTION: The date of his death was Oct. 29, 2013. And I don't know whether he's related to Gordon Retzer. This town of Paradise, California has a very active Adventist community, but I don't live there myself.
