But transgender Catholics shared with AP’s Religion Team their deep dismay, saying the document didn’t even use the word “transgender” while condemning the practice of gender-transition as against the will of God. A lifelong Catholic transgender man from Ohio said he’d been encouraged by Pope Francis’ personal outreach to to trans people. But he said the document fails to convey that level of respect and support, and instead was hurtful. Read more.
