Ellen
I can't believe how fast time flies. I appreciate original thoughts too. Some writers think they are quoting something we haven't heard before. . . Although that is not an original thought, it isn't a quote. Ted
There's a book called, "The Complete Cheerful Cherub." It's a collection of verse by Rebecca McCann containing 1,001 verses of her poetry. This book occasionally is on the Internet for less than $10. Miss McCann flourished between 1914 and 1927, yet her verses are timeless. False Consolation That it helps to think of others Who are much worse off than me Is a form of consolation I never quite can see. Here is one of her poems as it first appeared on June 15, 1916 in "The Day." It's on page 7. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=SrsqWtBqNIQC&dat=19160615&printsec=frontpage&hl=en Scanning her poems when they were written shows the similarity of yesterday's people with us. It's fascinating to read the papers of the day at the time they were written. For instance, there's the original account of the sinking of the Lusitania. The paper shows the advance of the German war machine. Soon, the Zimmerman telegram; it was a major factor in the US entering WWI. There's original thought here, people. Perhaps it will stimulate discussion. Or maybe it won't. We are Laodicea. Quote GnuPG/PGP key: 0xB07F9AAE
