Members rudywoofs (Pam)
Timothy Matlack was born to Quaker parents in 1736 New Jersey. But unlike most of the Quakers, he became active politically in the years just prior to the Revolutionary War, apart from his business as a brewer and beer bottler. The Quakers disowned Timothy, and he became one of the founders of the Society of Free Quakers. In 1775 he became Clerk to the 2nd Continental Congress, and was the one who penned the official Declaration of Independence. Col. Matlack is LynnDel's 4th cousin 8x removed, and my 1st cousin 7x removed. Kevin H, LynnDel and D. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators Kevin H Posted September 23, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 23, 2014 The Society of Free Quakers meeting house is in the main tourist area of Philadelphia. They have a man who portrays one of the early members. He gives a good history of the group.
