Moderators lazarus Posted November 18, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 18, 2014 As the Muslim community is still not happy Didn't you post a link about the Muslim community being divided? All this generalizing about Muslims is not helping you. "As the Muslim community is still not happy what is it you think should happen in the interest of equality?" Muslim leaders are free to decide what they need in America to be free. I have good relationships with one of the leaders of a mosque near our church. He came to our last communion service but we have never talked bout these issues. They may not get what they desire but it's their right to speak up, protest, write letters, campaign for office, etc. This is the land of the free, right? bonnie
Didn't you post a link about the Muslim community being divided? All this generalizing about Muslims is not helping you. To state the Muslim community is still not happy about the compromise and removing the mention of any religious holiday in favor of winter holidays which includes all is not generalizing. It is fact, those bringing the suit are still not satisfied. There are Muslims quoted that don't have a problem. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. bonnie
Muslims are human. They disagree with each other. You make statements like that giving the impression that somehow that has been an issue. The fact that those bringing the complaint are still not satisfied having the religious holidays removed doesn't make them less human,it makes them demanding. All have been eliminated so can't get more fair than that. Muslims are no more entitled to special rights as anyone else. They demanded something and they got a compromise.Tough, the way it works sometimes. Those wanting religious holidays didn't get what they wanted either. Whether it is special food at the food shelf or anything else, they don't have any more rights than anyone else. They have every right to observe their religious days,no one has attempted to stop that. For all the uproar the attendance during this time doesn't show a great concern for observing that day. And they seem to be unable to name a specific day they want on the calender Now they can enjoy the winter holidays just like everyone else. Just received a letter from the Food Shelf asking for additional donations during the holiday season, there wasn't any demand for ethnic food. Bet if there are Muslim families requiring assistance the lack of ethnic food won't cause them to turn away the very generous gifts of food for their families. Bill Cork
This is really a tempest in a teapot. The schools are not in session on Christmas day. Why do any holidays need to be on a school calendar that do not fall during the school year?
