Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted August 28, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 28, 2015 Recently the General Conference released a legal document that argued that the Unions do not have an independent authority to decide who should be ordained. Now retired General Conference attorney, Mitchell Tyner, has written a legal opinion in response to the above document. CoAspen
Wow! The GC will determine what its policies mean even when they explicitly say the opposite! To me, casting the WO issue aside, that is the real issue for the .org. As was suggested in one of the comments, why have policies, just do and say what ever you want. A real single power control. Shades of the RC church! I reckon this whole headship theology has been growing for some time and fully bloomed! Thank you SB and the RC....(you taught him well)
Administrators debbym Posted August 28, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 28, 2015 Nothing is to take the place of standing under the authority of the Holy Spirit. That is dangerous ground for human beings to assume that kind of authority to another human being. Quote deb Love awakens love. Let God be true and every man a liar. Moderators Kevin H Posted August 29, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 29, 2015 I read a Mrs. White quote that has been going around on this topic about how the unions were to help limit the General Conference's power. Also, in church history when in the early 1900s when the unions wanted to ordain women, Elder A. G. Daniels, General Conference President saw them as having that right and supported their decision. However he asked them to wait a little bit so that members who thought it was unbiblical could be taught that it was Biblical. Either Elder Daniels or Elder Wilson had the wrong understanding. But how different the spirit between these two men. Deaconess and debbym
