Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted March 29, 2016 Members Posted March 29, 2016 For middle class families, the folding bed would have allowed a single room to serve as both the parlor and the bedroom. (Even before the advent of cabinet bed, the parlor would have been the sleeping place for the head of the household. In the mid-19th century propriety suggested that the bed and bedroom should be kept out of sight.) This convertible bed in the form of an upright piano is from ca 1865, and can be seen in the Decorative Arts collection of the Brooklyn Museum. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
