Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted June 11, 2017 Moderators Share Posted June 11, 2017 William G. Johnsson, Embrace the Impossible. Review & Herald, 2008, 239 pages. Johnsson started his adult life with a degree in chemical technology. But, that was only the first step in his complex life. From that start in chemistry he went on to earn a PhD. from Vanderbilt in New Testament with a thesis on the book of Hebrews. A teaching assignment at Spicer College in India was followed by teaching at the SDA Theological Seminary at Andrews University. This w as followed by more than two decades as Editor of the Review. By the time he had left the Review, he had written some 20 books and more than 1,000 articles. So, why should you read a biography of one person who has made a major contribution to the life and work of the SDA Church? Because he goes well beyond this. He reported directly to three Presidents of the General Conference. HIs discussion of various issues that the denomination faced contributed to our understanding as to how the Church has functioned, sometimes in crisis. I have found it to be interesting.
