The population was encouraged to take rabbis into their homes and listen to them. Rabbis often used parables to teach a lesson. Jesus was not unique to utilize this method. Another tool that rabbis used to help their hearers remember their words was to string Bible verses along. The Scriptures were familiar to most Jews, and if for emphasis the teacher quoted the first part of a verse but left out the last part, most students would be able to complete the verse and gain the lesson. This book is a great research tool to help any Christian expand his or her knowledge of the Bible.
