B/W Photodude
Great Poem - 'Sister White said it!' Sister White said it— Well . . . I never really read it, But someone said she said it, So of course it must be so. To prove my point, I’ll quote it, Though I can’t show where she wrote it. But someone said she said it. And that’s all I need to know. It saves a lot of time for me, If I just listen carefully, When others speak of Sister White, And what they say she said— Though I can’t repeat it word for word, I’ll tell you what I think I heard, And quote you things from Sister White No one’s ever read – that really are absurd —Adapted from: Thelma Burton in Adventist Review, January 8, 1998, p. 7. You can find out if she really wrote it! Moderators Kevin H Posted July 26, 2018 Moderators Share Posted July 26, 2018 It is good and we need to be aware of it, but there is much that she wrote and not always able to remember the source. I like to mention when more iffy, but there are other things such as when for Bible Archaeology class at the Seminary we were sent to the White estate to read an article she wrote that down played the strict 6,000 years and tells us that what ever age we use to see as the age of the earth to just make sure it is fair to scripture. Also, there was when I thought I was just reading for fun in the White estate vault and on topic after topic I read a number of letters between Mrs. White and/or Willie to the pastors who's thoughts have developed into the so-called "Historic Adventism"(last generation theology/Folcrom7) branch of the church. I wish I could turn back time and I would have done a full paper on these letters. I recognize that people who have not read what I read cannot confirm these two issues (although some of it has come out in books such as the biographies of Prescott and Daniels), but on the other hand, I need to follow what I have read first hand. phkrause
