This is a big loss for Andrews University though he was probably retired for some time. However his service there was very meaningful abd extended.

It is with a great sense of loss that we write to inform you that on Wednesday evening, February 25, at 8 pm EST, Dr. Daniel Augsburger, beloved faculty member, died. Dr. Augsburger joined the faculty in 1942. He was 83 years of age when he died. A number of his family members were present in his critical care hospital room at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph at the time of his death.

Friends may pay respects and visit with the Augsburger family on Saturday night, February 28, at 5:30 p.m. in the Pioneer Memorial Church Youth Chapel. The funeral services will be held Sunday morning, February 29, at 9 am in Pioneer Memorial Church. In lieu of floral tributes, please make donations through the Andrews University Office of Development, Berrien Springs, Michigan, 49104-0660, to the Daniel Augsburger Scholarship Fund. Thank you for joining the campus community in remembering this wonderful man and keeping the Augsburger family in your prayers.

Dr. Augsberger was a remarkable man. Always so friendly. I had a class from him when I was in college there, and at my 40th class reunion he came up to me and called me by name -- even though I'd had no contact with him in the interim.

Word had it that he would study the yearbook for the honored classes just before each Alumni Weekend, to remind himself of the students' names. He was amazing!
