cricket
Using a bit of mathematical circuity, yes! I'm looking to buy a mini-van that gets 24 mpg. Currently, I have a car that gets 29 mpg. At 29 mpg, and $3.00 per gallon, I'm paying 0.034 cents per mile per passenger. The mini-van will give 24 mps, but at the same rate of $3.00 per gallon, I'll pay only 0.018 cents per mile per passenger. Assuming I have 3 passengers for which I am solely financially responsible, my dollars per mile in the mini-van will be cheaper at 0.053 than in the car (a Civic!) at 0.103 In fact, it's a 48.5% savings if I purchase the mini-van with a higher mpg rating. The person below me thinks I need a life!
